Aeshma Smiles - 01/03/22
[Eligor]
Eligor appears out of the aether, blackened static and mist roiling off of his tattered cloak. His hair was undone and unkempt, and he seemed denied sleep for days on end as he half stumbled his way towards the front door of the Kerberion home, an ominous red glow shining brightly from his chest as he approached.
[Blue]
Sura's eyes widened, ruby gaze sweeping upwards from the basement of the Kerberion home. She frowned and tilted her head from side to side before twisting around and running to the slumbering Xaela curled up nearby.
—
Blue hop-skipped up to the door and swung it open wide. Mismatched eyes flickered over the man briefly, a look of concern crossing her face.
“Eligor? Are you okay?”
[Eligor]
“I'm not. Not at all. I do not have much time. Would you lend me your….”
He looked around.
“….Ears?”
[Blue]
The Xaela hummed, absently brushing her fingers over her horns.
“..Of course.”
She held the door open for him.
[Eligor]
He does not move to enter the building, instead reaching underneath his cloak and pulling out a vial full of some dark red liquid.
“It is good to see you again. I need you to take and keep this. It is for your sister. She will be needing it soon.”
[Blue]
Blue stared at the vial curiously but her attention flitted back to Eligor upon one specific keyword.
“Veldi? Is she in trouble?”
[Eligor]
“Not yet, but she will be.”
He leans forward a bit.
“You should know I am not who you are looking at. Last we saw each other…”
He points to the glowing light where his heart would be.
“…You were locking me away in here. But I'm not here for battle, or harm. The truth of it is I am trying to prevent the worst outcomes.”
[Blue]
“You didn't sound like Eligor anyway, even if your appearance looks it.” Blue crouched down, curling her tail around her feet.
“You were supposed to be the worst outcome. Why are you trying to prevent another?”
[Eligor]
His sclera began to turn red.
“I have no means to escape. Whether or not I wish it, I have been made a part of this flesh. His rage…I was the better option of us both, but I cannot stay in control, courtesy of your efforts. I am using my limited time to try to reduce the impact of what he is going to do.”
“Together, we will tear through whatever is in our way until it is done. But he has simply gone mad from his anger. If we are to synchronize, it must be done with a clear mind, you understand.”
He offers the vial again.
“Take it. She will need it desperately.”
[Blue]
Blue hesitated, closing her eyes as she listened.
“You know, you threatened to hurt my little one and my Sister. It's very difficult to trust your words.”
She held her hand out to take the vial.
“…But in case she does need it, I promise I will keep it safe.”
“Can I know at least what he plans to do?”
[Eligor]
“I don’t have a means to treat you.”
[Blue]
“No means to read the heart from the heart? Are you sure you aren't mistaken then? I'm uncertain why there is more reason to be even more raging than usual.”
[Eligor]
You are not unlike her. You will try to stop us, and as a result you will fail. Her pain is necessary. Yours is not.“
[Blue]
“No one's pain should be necessary! …My Sister most of all.”
“But you are right. Should you need to be stopped I'll be there regardless. You've already been wrong before.”
She looked at the vial again and pursed her lips.
“I suppose this will hurt her then?”
[Eligor]
He smiles as pulses of aether emit from his body.
“We will be needing the grimoire back–temporarily of course–to see our work done properly. Naturally, she will divine that it means we aim to do something she never would, and she will ask. As is her right. But we can see it now. We know her too well. That indignant rage as she does exactly as she was trained to.”
“So we will rip it from her. The grimoire is fused to her body. Her essence. What do you think will happen once it is prized free of her flesh?”
[Blue]
The Xaela stared unabashed at the man as he continued but she could feel her body tensing and her mind flickered over the beasts catalogued in her head, wondering which could do the most damage in the shortest amount of time. Her tail twitched.
”..Will this keep her alive?“
[Eligor/Veldi]
“Of course. It is filled with my blood–”
He is cut off by the appearance of a spear pressed against the side of his neck, followed by Veldi's winged form appearing from the shadows.
“Why the fuck are you here?”
Eligor smiles, ignoring her.
“Perhaps there is hope. Convince her. Tell her to relinquish it now. I will give it back, and she need not be hurt. Tell her, Blue.”
[Blue]
Blue took a moment but recognized Veldi's winged self, blinking and hopping up to her feet, carefully cradling the vial between two hooked fingers. She recognized her Sister's voice instantly however, and her elation at seeing her was quickly dampened by his words. Her earfins flattened back against her head.
”…He…They want the book, Sis. Whatever they want with it, is probably not going to be good. It'll probably be terrible.“
The Xaela stared at the ground.
“You're not going to want them to, so you'll end up getting hurt.”
[Eligor/Veldi]
“I'm disappointed in you.”
He pulses with aether, and is suddenly on Veldi's shoulders, hands, grasping her head tightly.
“I said we are not here to harm. Not here for battle. We are only doing what we must. But now you've primed her to refuse me. This was your choice. When you must care for her, praying that her strength is enough…remember this moment. This is what you chose.”
He disappears in another pulse of aether, leaving Veldi alone with Blue.
“What did he do? Is the kid alright?”
[Blue]
Blue growled as he grabbed Veldi's head, pouncing towards them both before he poofed away, causing the Xaela to quickly alter her trajectory to land beside her sister instead. She hissed and brought a finger up to her mouth before biting down hard enough for it to start bleeding.
”…“ She pulled her finger away and sighed, looking over to Veldi.
“Like I'd ever try and keep you from doing what you wanted to do. I wouldn't be a good sister if I didn't support you.”
The front door creaked open and a pair of bright red eyes stared out at the pair.
[Veldi]
”…Kid's fine, you're fine.“
She began rubbing her chin.
“Don't make sense.”
She quickly made her spear disappear.
“I'll get goin then, sorry for bothering. More of the same shite it seems.”
[Blue]
Blue brought the vial up and opened it to show Veldi.
“They gave me this vial. Said you were going to need it when they tear the book out of you.”
“Guess it's full of his blood.”
[Veldi]
“He's got no reason to bother with it though. You've seen him. Theres not much he cant do without the grimoire. And why come to you? He knows you.”
[Blue]
“How much do you understand your own book? Do you really know everything that it can do like he might?”
[Veldi]
“What's that supposed to mean?”
[Blue]
“He's the one who made it right? You have the book but he wrote it.”
[Veldi]
“Its not–UGH. It don't work like that, alright? I can talk to the damn thing, and even it is confused right now. We just felt him going mad, then suddenly he was quiet and here.”
He's fuckin' stupid, but he's not dumb enough to try taking this thing from me. If he wrote it as you put it, then he knows what I'll do to him with it. It's dumb.”
[Blue]
“The thing that spoke to me said that they need it. Even if you and the book don't think that they do, can you be careful anyway?”
“You just recovered, n' the only way I can play nurse is with this.”
She brought her bleeding finger up and dripped a few drops into the vial before closing it up again.
[Veldi]
She looked increasingly annoyed at the words, taking a deep breath before waving at Sura.
“What's up? Meet any new friends yet?”
[Sura/Blue]
Sura tensed as attention was drawn to her, eyes widening at the wave, to which she abruptly shut the door.
A few seconds later, it creaked open again and the Miqo'te child waved her hand through the space.
Another few seconds later, the girl creeped around the door and onto the front step before plopping into a cross-legged sit.
“Auntie.” Was all she managed to say before bashfully covering her face in her hands and giggling.
Blue watched the interaction and shrugged her shoulders with a small smile.
[Veldi]
Veldi raised her brows, but did not comment further, instead placing her hands into her pockets(?), bending her wings until they crack and disappear.
“Well I'll see you lot later, yeah? Sorry again for dropping in.”
[Blue]
“No need to be sorry, I like when you drop in. We all do. Come n' catch up with us when you can, there's a bunch I want to tell you about!” The Xaela skipped on over to Veldi and would hug her from behind if she got close enough to.
[Veldi]
Veldi grunts and wiggles herself free.
“Yeah yeah, see you around.”
[Blue/Sura]
“Cya Sis,” Blue would reply with a giggle, waving her off with a merry wag of her tail. She waited until Veldi had gone before swinging around and skipping towards Sura with a sigh. She extended out her free hand and raised the other with the vial to her face.
“We're always in for fun times, aren't we? Oh well… I trust her and you should too.” Sura nodded solemnly and took Blue's hand.
“Anyway, guess we've got plenty to tell Tret when he gets back from Ishgard. Hope he's got some better news to come back with.” The Xaela muttered as she and the child slipped into the house, the door clicking shut behind them.
