The blazing sun sets on yet another day in Thanalan and while twilight reigns, the city hardly rests. From within the expansive palace the sounds of battle can be heard from the colosseum, the grunts, clashes and screams of battle can be heard roaring from within.

From the Ruby Road, Gair makes his approach, passing through the front gate of the great palace. His black armor burnished with the gold scales of Ul'dah, weighing the flame of might with the jewel of prosperity. A hastening pace for him in lieu of a day's work being complete, he makes way for the colosseum on heavy footfalls. Though he does not go directly to the central viewing area, instead he goes through the fighter's way. Making for the infirmary and watching as a number of healers of all walks tend to the injured. His gaze searching as he makes his way through, pushing curtains aside to find his quarry.

It was nearing the end of a fairly typical day in the coliseum infirmary, meaning a seemingly endless influx of warriors who all stagger in with varying levels of consciousness and blood loss. The healers are well accustomed to this sight however, tending to them all in a practiced routine of triage, treatment and discharge.

Miyuki has made a place for herself as one of the cogs in this well oiled machineband finds her days fulfilling, even if she still can't quite comprehend why anybody would want to voluntarily pit themselves against another in bloody physical altercations.

This particular evening finds her patching up a gash on a burly midlander's upper arm. Pouring the last bit of aether needed, Miyuki gives the newly knit flesh a gentle pat and the hyur a bright smile. "All done! In the interest of keeping your body free of holes, I would recommend avoiding the business end of maces in the future."

The midlander in question offers a sheepish grin as he is chided and healed in equal measure by Miyuki. "Thank ye, lassy. I'll try'ta avoid it better next time, my wife'd be cross if I got too beat up." At the approach of Gair, the midlander's gaze fixated on the badge of his rank for a moment before he firstly greets him. "Good day, Sarge." He pushes himself up from his chair and stretches languidly, on his way to depart.

"And you, Goodman." Gair returns the greeting, a friendly enough smile is offered to him. His attentions turn to Miyuki, raising a hand in greeting before it falls to his sword belt. "Hey, you! Figured I'd come and bother you on the job, if you don't mind."

Miyuki's smile brightens at the sight of Gair. "Hello to you too." She raises an eyebrow as her gaze sweeps up and down appraisingly. "It's rare that you come to me without something bleeding copiously. What's the occasion?"

Gair flashes a grin initially, though the question immediately cuts through. Making him look away, attempting to deflect,"I mean.. I could have fallen on my sword on the way if you'd prefer." After a moment, he answers. " I wanted to see- I mean, my patrol ended early. Figured I'd come see ya!"

Miyuki's cheeks blossom a faint pink, her expression pleased. She moves a hand up to smooth her bangs before abruptly stopping upon realising there were still errant smears of blood on the fingertips. She curls her hand into a fist instead, hovering over her mouth as she clears her throat awkwardly. "Oh...well, you're always a welcome sight, so I'm definitely not complaining!"

The midlander was mid-stride away as the awkward exchange happens between the pair, illiciting an audible chuckle from him. He shakes his head and makes to depart the Colosseum infirmary.

Gair's gaze follows the path of Miyuki's hand to her face, looking away as he notices the reddening of her features. "Welcome, then?" He makes himself immediately useful, one hand smoothing her hair out and brushing an errand strand behind her horn. Another plucking up a piece of clean linen that he presents with a wide grin. "You've come into your own since you started livin' here, a bit starstruck first, as I recall. But you weren't exactly the fainting damsel type in the first place, considering how we first met."

Grateful for the change in topic, Miyuki accepts the linen and wets it in a bucket of water beside her, wringing it out before wiping both of her hands thoroughly. "Very true, though the novelty of being here in Eorzea still hasn't worn off yet." She abruptly gives Gair a narrowed side-eye. "Speaking of...I still remember you calling me a sahagin, and for the longest time I didn't know what that was." Her tone is deceptively casual as she folds the now dirtied linen and sets it aside.

Aardvael's own features take a darkened hue at that side-eye, he raised a wrapped hand to his mouth and clears his throat. "You did suddenly board a Maelstrom ship from the water, not to mention.. the way your hair rested." He snorts audibly. "It took me a moment to realize you were a touch too comely to be a monster or the like, I still laugh thinkin' about that."

Miyuki gives an exaggerated huff, tossing her head to the side and standing up in one swift motion. She smooths out the front of her blood-speckled smock before planting her fists on her hips in mock indignity. "I'm offended that you could ever mistake me for one of the sahagin!" Her gaze turns quizzical as she tilts her head to the side like a confused puppy. "Comely? That's not a word I'm familiar with, unfortunately."

Gair raises a finger, ready to protest her indignity- though it doesn't come. He opts to instead halfheartedly insult her, "Well, you've the scales for it!" At her inquiry to his choice of words, his features grow an even darker shade of red. "I.. uhh, meant to say that you're rather.." He trails off. "E-easy on the eyes?"
