||A letter. Vinalo was expecting a response at some point; it was the content sent their mind racing. Regardless, their mother's words were quite clear and to the point. She spilled the beans to their father and now a response is expected.||

Vinalo walked slowly down the hall to their shared home. Being that it was apartment number four, it certainly didn't take long. With a turn of a key, they found themself in their front room, ready as they'd ever be to have a little chat about matters.

"Misha? I'm back from my walk."

Misha, ignorant on anything going on, had been lounging on the couch with a book on air ships. One leg was propped up against the back of the couch, the other dangling off of it. His hair is in a messy braid, and he would smile at Vinalo upside down as he looks up from his book.

"Welcome back, beloved. How was your walk?"

The unexpected continued to mount. The view of their beloved greeting them upside down caught them off guard and they snirked quite audibly before they could entertain the thought of stifling it. At least this would start off with a smile on their face.

"Hah... walk went just fine. Took my usual route. Tended to some things here and there along the way, but mostly quiet and uneventful. Until I made it back, anyroad," they said, pulling the letter out. A sigh. "Another letter. A moogle handed it to me personally. Somehow got lost and traveled all over the realm. But... reckon you could guess who it's from."

Righting himself to be sitting on the couch like a normal being, he'd look them over. Something had surely happened, so he'd extend his arms towards them in a hug.

"I could. Do you need a hug? It might be easier to talk about it while I snuggle you."

"Could probably use one. But... here. If you want to read it yourself."

Vinalo kicked their boots off and made their way to the couch, plopping down next to Misha, ready for said hug.

He'd take the letter, but set it aside to squeeze them into his side. Pecking at their cheek in a loving flurry, nuzzling and just giving them affections.

"I suppose, I must."

Reluctant, he'd pull his attention from his beloved paissa to the letter. There's a tense silence as he reads it, brows furrowing slightly.

"Hm."

"Yeah. Hm."

The kiss assault was appreciated, and they happily let themself get pulled into the embrace, but the subject weighed on their mind something fierce.

"She really told him. Moons ago when I first sent the book, I said she might as well if she wanted. But after everything now..."

Vinalo groaned. "He misses me, she says."

Misha watched them for a moment, setting the letter aside properly. His hand goes to their hair, gently stroking and soothing.

"You are his child. Part of him must." A glance at the page that now sat on one of the couch arms. "She makes it sound like tis your decision to make."

"Right. My decision. I... suppose it sort of is. I could respond or ignore this. Could pretend I never got it. Or I could..." They drifted off as Misha stroked their hair. A soft hum "What if... what if I went there. What would I do? What would I even say?"

"Do you want to go?"

He urges quietly, smiling at them a little as he petted them. Just gentle questions, happy to help work things out.

"I do think you should probably write to her and tell her the letter was lost. Tell her that you have not made a decision yet. I would imagine she is probably worried sick by now."

"No, I don't. Years and years I've said that if he wanted to mend or fix or just... anything, it was on him, not me. And that hasn't changed. But now Mum's suddenly made it my problem and-"

They let out a long sigh, and looked over to Misha, trying not to look too down.

"...A letter, yeah. Don't need to make a decision right now, I suppose. And... Mum's probably wondering if I've just dismissed the whole lot."

"Yes. Just acknowledging that you have the letter."

He smiled at them, leaning in to peck their forehead lovingly. It hurt him to see them so conflicted, but is glad that they would trust him with such things.

"What is on your mind?"

"My mind? Just... Has he changed? Does he want to change? Mum doesn't think so, but still said he missed me," they said, leaning into him. "Part of me doesn't think he much deserves another chance, and the other... well, would rather things be better than they are, even if it's not likely to happen."

Vinalo closed their eyes.

"Stubborn and optimistic parts at work, I reckon."

"I think tis alright to be cautious. People like that....sometimes there can be no change. But I would not try again if I went and was lectured once again."

He leans on them, the hand on their hair drifting to stroke their shoulder instead.

"In my opinion, you have tried plenty and it is high time he made an effort."

Vinalo let out a soft, awkward chuckle.

"Lecture? Every time I went, he hardly said anything. Was always the same thing: 'Have you grown up and made up your mind yet? Figured out if you were a man or woman?' And every time, I told the truth. And that was it. Might've been easier if it was a lecture."

A short hum.

"You're probably right, though. Had thoughts like this when I decided to meet with Mum, but... that wasn't the same. For him, for... Tamido, I'll not make the first move. He has to show he means it. Prove it and such."

<fc #35adb5>''[Misha]''</fc>

"Then, there you go. I think your mother passed this burden onto you because the discussion they had took a lot out of her. Probably thought it would be easier if you took the initiative than to make him do so."

He shrugs a little.

"I would tell her as much."

"Still hard to imagine her taking a stand at all. Probably did take a lot out of her. And out of him, maybe. They never had fights when I was young, and Mum said they still didn't," they said. A tiny smirk crossed their face. "Almost wish I could've seen how it went, you know? Just to see them like I've never seen them."

"....I feel he might have tried to deflect the blame of it to you if that were the case."

He squeezed them protectively. "If you do end up going, I will go with you. There is no way I am allowing you to face him on your own. You may have to bind my hands, but still."

<fc #0A9532>''[Vinalo]''</fc>

They laughed as they were pulled in.

"Reckoned you would, but... thank you. Doubt punching him would help much, good as it would feel. If... if we go there, we'll just play it as it happens. Work with what we've got. And if he still doesn't budge..."

Vinalo looked him in the eye, a faint but confident smile.

"We walk out, and that's that."

"That is all we can do. Although you might have to gag me to keep me from chewing him out."

A joke? Maybe. But you could never be too sure with Misha.

"And hey, at least your mother is making an effort for herself. That is something in itself."

"She is. Never thought I'd see it, but she is. Maybe that meeting mattered more than we thought, hm?"

"And to think she had that talk with him after only meeting you one time. That is pretty impressive."

He stroked their shoulder again. "Are you alright?"

<fc #0A9532>''[Vinalo]''</fc>

"Well... it was more than any of us were expecting, right? Reckon it'd do something, even if it was small."

Vinalo hummed as they were rubbed.

"And feeling better than when I came in. Have more of a plan, and that helps. I'll write a letter back. Let her know how things are, and let him know what he has to do."

"That sounds good. I am glad you are feeling better."

He pecked their cheek. "I loath to see you so worried. I prefer your smile by a longshot. Are you hungry?"

"Better, but I'll not feel settled until all of this is, erm.... settled. One way or another," they say, sitting up. "And when that happens, we'll just keep going."

As if on cue, Vinalo's stomach quietly growled.

"...Ah. Well, this is when we'd be having lunch."

"Come what may, I will stand by you."

He'd stand and stretch lazily, fixing his braid absently. 

"Let us make some lunch then. Some good food will help with the unsettled feeling."

Vinalo likewise gets to their feet, beginning to unfasten their robe. They smile warmly at Misha as they go.

"No one else I'd rather have with me, Misha. And not just for lunch!"

He'd smirk at them playfully.

Vinalo giggled as they pulled off the bulk of the robe.

"It's what'll get us through the hardest times, surely. Let's get some food."
