Hair Therapy - 09/28/20

[Lucatiel]

With *just a bit* of help, Lucatiel had pushed most of the chairs and tables downstairs out of the way and set up one comfy chair by itself in the middle of the room. Prepared for her work, she had leaned a broom nearby and had a nice cloth ready as well. With Luna out of the house for work, she had set to something herself - she had agreed to help Langston with his newfound hair *dilemma*. She had a table nearby adorned with much in the way of tools - scissors, a hand mirror, a large jar of water, some hair products, and a myriad of smaller nondescript accoutrements. Even more prepared, she had been practicing sending her Carbuncle upstairs to fetch small tools and items if needed, to pleasing results.

For now, she was humming happily to herself and cleaning up here and there while she waited for the man's arrival.

[Langston]

Vacation was over.

Langston stepped out of his own tub and stared into the mirror with a smile. He couldn't remember the last time he was so at ease like he was then. He was alone with one of the only people that mattered, and he felt a burden lifted from his shoulders. Well, somewhat, anyway. Yet, there was one thing that haunted him and there it was, staring him in the face. Bad hair. Indeed, the “Saltborn Special” was beginning to lose its luster. The delicate knots have become overgrown and frayed. Langston carefully took them apart, and an even more ridiculous look was born; not a single side of his head had the same length of hair. “I'm not going to maintain this crap… It's gotta go.”

And thus, he found himself in La Noscea again, at the door of a friend. He wasn't sure why he had to head here, of all places. All he knew was that Lucatiel had some sort of solution, one that he figured was a stylist recommendation. Perhaps the barber in question lived nearby? Regardless, he sounded his arrival with a few loud knocks and waited patiently.

[Lucatiel]

As the aforementioned girl is in mid-sweep, she hears the knocking on the front door. She quickly leans the broom against a wall and bounds upstairs. As if it were some worthwhile skill at this point, she had learned to move quite quickly up and down the stairs of the tavern *without* falling on her face. It is maybe half a minute before the doors open in front of the hair-hassled Lalafell. “Oh! Laaaangston!” She greets him with her usual cheer and enthusiasm, waving as if he were actually yalms away. “Come in! I have the downstairs all set up for your styling and haircut! It's been so long since I've cut *someone else's* hair, but we'll manage just fine!” She gestures for the man to enter, holding the door open for him politely.

[Langston]

Langston shut his eyes and furrowed his brow upon hearing her welcoming voice, not prepared for that level of sound. His eyes opened slowly as he recovered from that particular daze, though her words were… not reassuring. Not in the slightest. “You..?” he asked. “You're the barber?” He tried to peer in the door past the young blonde, but was greeted with, to his chagrin, no one. She was being serious. Langston was about ready to turn on his heel and bid her adieu, but then he remembered himself in the mirror. Three different lengths of hair on one head without rhyme or reason, anymore. How poorly could this possibly go? At worst, he could… shave his own head! His wife would hate it, and so would his wife, but at least it would eventually grow back… eventually.

Besides, he did feel guilty for considering bailing. After all, she was just a kid. And she seemed so excited. “R-right…” he said, walking in slowly. “So, uhm, whose hair did you cut in the past, exactly…?”

[Lucatiel]

The girl nods, oblivious to the man's concern. “Yep! It's me! I guess I forgot to mention that when I said I could help you with your hair! Oh well!” She closes the door behind him as he enters, beginning to walk downstairs. Her Carbuncle would be waiting for her down there, ever present and just curled up on a couch, seemingly watching the room. She looks back at the man once down, remembering. “Oh! Umm, my mom let me cut hers sometimes! She had really pretty hair! And my dad too, but he always wanted it super short so that was less fun! And umm….” She thinks a bit longer, clearly having to wrack her brain. “Some boys I would play with when we came back to port every now and then! They were always super eager to have me cut their hair! They really liked it!” Again, she was oblivious.

[Langston]

“Something tells me that's not the only thing they were there for…” he said, following her down the stairs. The cellar seemed the same as he remembered it, though he could see the highly improvised 'salon' waiting for him. “Well, unfortunately, this looks like this'll be one of your less fun jobs… I just need to be evened out..” He looked to the Carbuncle in confusion. Was she going to be focused on keeping that thing in existence while also putting her hands on his beautiful, precious head? Yet, the construct looked peaceful. Asleep? How could it sleep? His brain had too many questions.

[Lucatiel]

She looks at the man, a confused look on her face despite the smile. “Huh? But what else would they be there for? I'm a great stylist! Even as a kid!” She pats the seat of the impromptu salon chair welcomingly before moving behind it. She begins to just rummage through the tools on offer, looking at them excitedly. “That's okay! It's still plenty fun! Besides, I can't wait to hear all your gossip!”

As if knowing it was being considered and thought of, the Carbuncle turns it's head towards Langston, looking directly at him. There was a feeling of strained peace to it's visage, despite lacking real expression. It's beady black marbles of eyes just stared at the man piercingly. Small traces of aether sparkles and glittered around it as it stirred, but it's glow was more subdued than usual. Perhaps sleep wasn't the right word for it's prior activity. Standby might be more appropriate.

[Langston]

Langston stared back at the glowing non-creature. The feeling was akin to being glared at by a lazy cat across the room. It was hardly an unusual sight. Arcanists tend to walk around with their Carbuncles freely. But, it all seemed so deliberate. An unruly sort of Carbuncle was a mark of someone unfocused, untrained. An amateur. Yet, this one was hanging around like a real animal. Was it all a puppet show staged by the overactive imagination of this kid? Or, does her imagination merely spark the idea and her expertise in the art carry the rest?

Again, too many questions in his head, he thought. “Oh, well… nevermind.” he said, taking a seat in the chair. He leaned back and made himself comfortable. “Gossip, you say? Well, I suppose I know a few things about this or that… this person or the other…” He paused before turning to Luca. “Wait, is that what people do when they get their hair done? I have to admit, I can't recall ever talking to a barber while he works…”

[Lucatiel]

As the aetheric golem's gaze is matched, it rests its head once more. It seems content with the current situation, completely off-guard at the moment. Not that one might know given how quickly Carbuncles generally react.

As the man seats himself, Lucatiel comes over with a cloth, swinging it around the side and over the man, covering him from the neck down. She adjusts it gently, humming lightly as she does. “Oh, well every time I would style someone they ended up just talking to me about stuff! Like what their mom made for dinner, or umm… My mom would tell me things about dad that were funny! Sometimes when I style Luna, she tells me about how she feels about people too! But you're not here for a full styling, you just want your hairs cut!”

She grabs a comb from the table, beginning to run it through Langston's hair and holding it up, getting a feel for it's thickness and length. “Wow, this has grown out a lot since you got it cut last huh? It's kinda just…” She puts a hand on the top of his hair and pushes down gently, imitating a puff sound. “So! Tell me exactly what you want!”

[Langston]

“You can already feel the problem, can't you?” he asked. “The right side of my head holds longer hair than the top, and the top more than the rest of the sides. It just has to be even. Though… I've seen Luna's hair, so I suppose I'll allow you to add some flair to it. Not a hard job, right?” A few strands would fall off from Luca's brushing. Some more pale than others. How sad.

[Lucatiel]

A tiny 'Oh' escapes Lucatiel's lips as she watches the errant grays remove themselves from the man's scalp. For the briefest of moments, she pauses and grabs her own hair as if afraid, the very thought of having gray hairs one day sending a shiver down her spine. But she is a professional (not really), so she quickly recovers. “Yea, it's pretty uneven! I think I heard that your hair caught fire and that's why you had to cut it, right? Well! I will most definitely give you a better cut than some silly old fire eve could!” She sounds strikingly confident in herself, smiling invisibly behind the man. “Okay, so… Let me just…. have a little look-see and…” She begins gently touching the man's hair, lifting it up here and there to further visualize what she needs to do.

[Langston]

“The fire *necessitated* the cut, Luca. Otherwise, it was done by a professional.” he clarified. “A military professional, mind you. But a professional all the same!” His eyes were fixated on the ceiling. Talking was no problem, really. But was was there to even say? “So, uhm…” he started. “What is it that you even do? I understand that you assist Luna in the tavern and that you're often orbiting… Luna. But what is it that you do for *yourself*?”

[Lucatiel]

“Well of course! Fire can't cut people's hair, that would be silly!” She retreats for a moment, grabbing a pair of hair scissors and a filled spray bottle. “This might feel a bit funny, but it's just water!” She's quick to re-assure before she begins spritzing the man's hair. Once she was satisfied with the results, she set the bottle down and picked back up the comb, combing out the man's hair to one side. With surprising focus, she begins to pull hair up with the comb before trimming the ends, slowly working in a way that would be considered semi-professional.

“What do I do? Umm… if you mean during the day when she's gone I read or ummm… play with Carbie… *snip* I go for walks around the Mist, sometimes talk to people at the beach… *snip snip* Sometimes I go into town and look at the markets! Oh! And I study my arcanist stuff! But maybe not as much as I should.” She nods gently as if to confirm her own statement. From time to time, she gently adjusts the man's head at angles with her hand before continuing. “Umm, what about you? I bet you spend all day being all romantic with Pipino!” There is an air of excitement and wonder to her words, clearly a bit jealous of the idea.

[Langston]

Langston smirked at that thought. He could imagine that some people do think that way. Plucking flowers with Pipino, taking a stroll among the markets and stalls with Pipino, counting clouds with Pipino… If they were young, perhaps. Then again, she was 22 when he was 16… so, probably not. “Those are the beautiful bits that bespeckle the banality of a bread and butter lifestyle.” he said. “In between the romance, there's lots of hard work. My eatery is open every other day, roughly. In between those days, I garden, fish, and shop, either for ingredients or for my son's sake. I take care of him, of course. Then there's time spent with Orchard… and time spent with Pipino, as well.”

Huh. The conversation was oddly calming. He barely took notice of the wet bunches of hair that fell from his head as they were snipped away. “Perhaps it's best that you keep up your studies a little more often. I know that there's quite an allure to romance, but I also know that there's hardly *anything* of value to be found in boys your age. They're mostly full of bluster and… *poor* motivations.”

[Lucatiel]

The girl seemed able to juggle chatting with her hair-cutting well enough to not make any blunders, or rather none that another quick snip wouldn't fix. “Wow, that's really busy! You've got two wives and a kid! Oh my gosh, that must be exhausting! I can't imagine you have much time to yourself!” She pauses for a moment to appreciate her progress so far, having done a bit towards resuming a more even lay to the hair.

“What!? What do you mean! There's a lot of cute guys out there, one of them has to be that knight in shining armor! He'll sweep me off my feet and take me on romantic dinners, we'll watch the sun set together holding hands! Then later when they come home from work, I'll have dinner all ready for them! Maybe!” Her protests quickly meld into her fantasizing, though she does catch herself quickly and resume her work. “What do you mean poor motivations? Like how… Umm, like how Luna tells me to exercise so I stay healthy but really i just do it so I can have more of her cakes?”

[Langston]

“A knight in shining armor, huh…” he mused. The concept seemed as old as time itself. A single man rises from nothing but the armor on his back, a sword, perhaps a shield, and most likely a banner or sigil of some sort. Then he defeats some foe or another and saves the damsel. Langston's boyhood hero, Langston, was also a work of fiction, though that particular novel hero was more cunning and humorous than strong. “Well, I think you're smart. I can trust you not to get sucked into the cheap charms and good looks of young men. The way Luna describes it is not too far off. Yes, certain men will play the role of knight but actually lead the life of a scoundrel. But, you have Luna to aid you…” …Would that be a good thing? Her perception of men as a whole is skewed in the opposite direction. Langston shrugged it off; perhaps they'll cancel each other out and things will be alright.

“I'm curious, though. This knight in shining armor business… the desire to find someone like this is rather widespread and common. As a child, I didn't see the appeal. Where does it stem from?”

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel nods as the man echoes her words. She smiles in the midst of her work at being called 'smart', definitely not something she heard much. Even her own mother had always preferred to give her cutesy titles and monikers. “Yeah! I'm not just going to fall for any man! He'd have to be handsome and dashing! When Luna brings me to Ishgard, I see a lot of knights that are really good looking, I don't know how she deals with it! I bet she gets so much attention!” Oh how naive she was.

She pauses in her snips and clips, thinking on his question. “Umm…. I dunno. Growing up, my parents would tell me lots of stories and my mom liked to tell ones about my dad, I mean my original dad. She would always call him her knight in shining armor and how he swept her off her feet. I guess he was really romantic. I wish I got to ask him about it, but he died when I was really young.” She shakes her head a bit, returning to a cheery smile, and beginning to trim some more.

[Langston]

“That's nice, having a positive example to follow so closely. I'm sure my parents loved each other at some point, but it was before I was born.”

Langston's expression grew dull as he contemplated his words. He could feel them bubble up inside of him as a dour mix of acid and bile, ready to escape his lips and make a horrible mess of what would otherwise be a pleasant moment. How does one temper such thoughts? Perhaps a focus on himself, rather than the bad aspects of his parents' marriage. “Romance is something I had to piece together on my own. Even now, I'm not completely certain if I'm doing the right things. Everyone says they're fine, but I wonder if they're just trying to placate me…”

Oh, wait. This is turning dour, anyway. “W-well, I'm doing my best to take them at their word!”

[Lucatiel]

The girl pauses mid-snip, leaning over to try and look Langston in the eye to no avail. “Whaaaaat? They don't love each other!? Then why are they marrried!” The idea completely baffles her, and she pouts invisibly at the very though that it could happen, much less to a friend's family. She gives a pathetic 'hmph' sound before returning to cutting and styling.

She blinks as the man mentions his fears, pausing again. “Well that's silly! You should just ask them! If they're not happy with you, why would they still be with you? I would never wanna be with a guy I'm not over the moon about!” As genuine as ever, she nods at her own sage advice, sculpted over years by romance novels and tall tales. “Good! You should!”

[Langston]

“They're not married anymore.” he answered. “It's a long story.” The conversation was beginning to annoy him. It seems like she would speak first and think later. Such heavy topics shouldn't be flung so lightly around someone like her, he thought. She fails to catch them.

He had almost forgotten that he was getting his hair cut. With no mirror before him to confirm her work, he wondered what things were looking like. It was hard to get a feel of what was happening to his head if all he could hear was the idle snips of scissors. “Anyway… how's it coming along? I can't see a thing.”

[Lucatiel]

A frown crosses the girl's face as she hears the man's parents are separated, but she doesn't say anything about it. Instead, she continues her snipping until prompted about progress. “Oh! I'd say you're almost done! I think you still need something more… like… a flower or something! BUT! Here!” she sets down the scissors and grabs a hand mirror, wrapping her arm around the man to hold it in front of him. Visible in the reflection and in front of her own smiling face was the new cut.

It had finally taken form and it was quite apparent what the end result would be. Gone were the chunky sections, replaced by visibly-even hairs. Much more clean and proper looking, cut and styled with apparent skill. There was still some small amount of hair left to be removed, but it was otherwise complete - sans a flower as stated. “A flower or hairpin of some kind on the side would be cute! And it needs just a little bit of teasing before it sits *juuust* right, but that won't take long!”

[R'Lamiza]

A raven hair’d miqo’te burst into the inn with a wide grin, “Oh A’erina! I’m here ya chaaaaat.” She’d look around abit. Seeing no sign of anyone.”Oi! Where ya at? Cheeky bitch ya.” Walking up to the counter not spotting her intended target she’d make her way downstairs before spotting Langston and Lucatiel.”Not me target…” she’d say almost sad. Running her fingers through her now mid shoulder blade length hair.” What ya lot doin’? Seen my favorite friend have ya?”

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel looks up at the newcomer with a mix of surprise and excitement. “Oh! Lami hiii! Umm, I'm cutting Langston's hair!” She thankfully had stopped cutting when the commotion started, not messing up her progress. “Your favorite friend? Umm… Well Luna's at work… Gair's… I don't know where he is… Umm, Vinalo is probably being all cuddly with Misha! Hmmm… Rina is probably just at home, where-ever that is…” The girl works her way through the people she knows, pausing after A'erina in thought.

The Carbuncle, however, had come to an alert stand, trained towards the stairway and Lami. It looked ready to attack, only settling down once Lucatiel made it clear she knew the person.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami sighed”Guess she’s not here then… that’s a real shame.” She’d shrug heavily.” Either way! Ya look like yer up ta sumthin’ interestin’! I didn’t know ya chopped hair.” She’d stroll a little closer to watch her cut Langstons hair offering a wave “ ‘ello! She do a good job? I was gonna chop me own hair off ‘efore ta much longer…. might ask ‘er ta do it if yer happy with it…”

[Langston]

Langston peered upon his own reflection, trying to mask his shock. “Oh, wow… it's *actually* good.” he said before immediately clearing his throat. “I mean it's good.” He tilted his head left, then right, before nodding. “I've always been rather partial to flowers in my hair. Since you happen to be the expert, I'll let you choose.”

His ears were suddenly bothered by an inquisitive voice upstairs that slowly made its way downstairs. The annoyance he felt vanished, however, when he realized who it was. He nudged the mirror away and smiled brightly. “Well… hello, Lami.” he said. “Oh, that A'erina is always stuck in some vial, or flask, or mug. I'll be your favorite friend for today!” He motioned a circle around his face. “I think it came out quite well, but what do you think? Be brutal!”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami grinned and then chuckled abit at Langston. “That’s a tall order. A’erina can barely handle the stress I’m sure.” Giving an even wider grin.” but if yer up fer the task I don’t see why not!” She’d lean back abit folding her arms over her chest. Now going about the task of inspecting the lalafell new hair cut. Rubbing her chin abit. After a few moments she’d nod”Aye! I like it! It’s a nice change of pace! Even if this wasn’t a planned one.” Looking around to find anything she could use as a seat, finding a lonely barstool pulling it up and making herself at home.”So, think I need a good chop meself?” Displaying her rather long hair for the lalafell. “It grows like damned weeds. It’s down at me arse faster then when a new Nunh comes ta town.” Giving her ears a wiggle.

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel looks quite proud of the two's approval of her work, smiling widely. “You think so? Yaaaaay!” She kind of catches the sudden change in Langston's tone, but doesn't say anything. “I'll go get some in just a minute then! They'll look great!” She sets down the mirror, about to go find some flowers before turning to Lami. “Huh? Umm… I don't know if you *need* a haircut, but if you want one I can do it after Langston's if you really want, sure! Umm, I'll just need to sweep away some hair before I do. But it shouldn't be a problem!” She then turns back, looking for some flowers and a pin.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami looked up and gave a curt nod”Well, either I ask ya ta cut it er I’ll just stand in front of a mirror and chop it as best I can. Either werks fer me but might be nice ta have sumone else give it a good ol’ chop fer a change.” She said with a few added nods”Ya seemed ta have done right by Langston.” Watching the Hyur pick out flowers and pins with a curious gaze.

[Langston]

“A colorful metaphor.” he said to Lami. “Well, I'm sure however you cut it won't chop away your beauty. Still, if there's some possible way to *improve* on all that, then Luca could do it, certainly.” He turned to Lucatiel. “Oh, do I still need a few snips, or am I merely awaiting the crowning flower?”

His commentary felt like it didn't really fit, anymore. As much as he liked whetting his words of flirtation on someone he didn't mind looking at, in his mind was the woman waiting at home. It was all less amusing than he remembered

[Lucatiel]

The girl's ears perk up as her name is mentioned. “Huh!? Oh, you're just waiting for the flower! Which I… Have… Found! Aha!” She lifts high a clip fitted with a few dark-colored flowers, quite proud. She walks over to Langston, carefully fitting the clip into the man's hair on the left side. “There, perfect!” She grabs the hand mirror and walks in front, holding it up. Her smile would be visible beyond the reflective surface, eagerly awaiting the man's opinion.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami cocked her head to the side at Langstons comment before offering a small smile.”Thank ya, Don’t usually get compliments. Sumthin’ ‘bout the way I talk er sum shite like that.” Giving another wiggle of her ears.”Probably gonna chop it like it was UNLESS. Our friendly barber wants ya get creative? I wouldn’t mind abit if spontaneous behavior.” Chuckling abit as she looked to Lucatiel.

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel looks up from holding the mirror, gazing over at Lami. And then to her hair. “Woooow, that's a lot of hair to cut! Umm, but if you really want I think I can do it! Yeah!” She nods, not quite sounding confident but sure of herself in one way or another.

[Langston]

“And there's the icing on the cake.” he said, admiring himself in the mirror with a smile. He hopped off his seat and looked up to Lucatiel, offering her a bow. “Solid work, Luca. Thank you very much.” After his words of gratitude, he decided to count up some tangible gratitude as well, pulling out a small sack to begin counting coins. “Now, let's see, what seems like fair compensation…”

Langston pointed his eyes to Lami for a moment before giving her a knowing nod. “Ah, my wife talks the same way, more or less. It's a little rough, but charming.”

[Lucatiel]

The girl smiles wide at the man in the mirror. “Yes! I'm so glad you like it Langston!” She puts the hand mirror down once he's done, turning back to find herself looking at a man counting coins. “OH! Umm, you don't have to pay me! It was fun and you're my friend!” She looks genuine as ever, smiling down at the man.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami had paused as the two spoke keeping an even smile on her face the whole time.“T-Thank ya. I'll be sure ta keep that in mind. It does have it's charms at times…cussin' gets rather colorful at times I suppose…”

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel looks over at Lami for a moment, smiling. “Umm, if you want me to cut your hair umm….” She looks at the floor around the chair, covered in bits of Langston's prior hair. “You can go ahead and sit down and umm I'll get a broom to sweep this up!” She quickly departs from Langston, now not even giving him the chance to offer her gil, grabbing the broom and beginning to sweep around the chair.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami nodded doing just that. Setting herself up in the spoken chair after Lucatiel has finished sweeping up Langstons various lost locks of hair. Nodding to herself abit as she waited for Lucatiel to be ready for a second go around at a haircut.

[Langston]

Langston looks up from his money, seeing that the recipient had already disappeared. He let out a sigh and stored his coins away once more, folding his arms before facing Lami again. “Well, it seems you're at Lucatiel's mercy. I can only hope the banter between you two is good!” He turned to the staircase and began to walk. “I'd love to stick around for the results, but I'm afraid your ears are already too heavy with praise. But, perhaps we'll meet again, soon.”

And with that, he was up the stairs, already making his way to the door. He needed to seek out the stamps of approval that mattered most!

[Lucatiel]

Having finished with the hair, she waves excitedly at her prior victim client. “Goodnight Langston, hope Pipino likes the hair!” She smiles, now moving over to the table to grab the large cloth once more, draping it over Lami carefully and gently moving her hair to be outside the veil. She hums happily to herself as she goes to grab the water bottle, once more spraying the hair to make it easier to work with. “So! Laaami! You said I should just do whatever, but umm…. did you have ANY style in mind?” She grabs the hand mirror and moves in front of the woman, holding it up so she can see herself.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami would wave as Langston left.“Take care of yerself, Lad.”She said with a small smile as she looked in the mirror.“Uhh…Style? Not really…just…sumthin' that won't get in me face. Wind picks up she gets tossed 'round like a fully opened sail without bein' tied down. Shorter ta be sure is me only real requirement.” She said looking at herself closely in the mirror for some odd reason.

[Lucatiel]

“Shorter huh? Hmmmm. I think I know what to do!” And with that, she sets the bottle back down on the table, coming back to the seated woman and beginning to run a brush through their hair for now. “Sooo Lami! What have you been doing lately, huh? I haven't seen you in… forever!” Her tone is excited, curiosity shining through.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami just had the realization she was here, alone, with Lucatiel and Langston had indeed abandoned her to a fate of conversation. Chuckling awkwardly she’d manage to get out,”Oh just a few trade runs down the coast of Eorzea. Tryin’ ta help resupply Gyr Albania and Ala Migho with their rebuildin’ efforts. Nuthin’ ta terribly excitin’ I’m afraid.” She said with a small grin.”How lon’ ya been Chopin’ hair fer?” She asked curiously.

[Lucatiel]

The girl makes a face of amazement. “Ooooh! That sounds fun! What's it like going there? Umm, to Ala Mhigo? I think Gair is from there…” She pauses to think as she runs the brush through Lami's hair, quickly returning to the action. Before long, she would take a step back and set the brush down, looking at what she was working with fully to think.

[R'Lamiza]

“It's hot. And sandy surprisin'ly enough. I'm actually from there meself. Bit of a series of surprises on how I ended up in Limsa.” She said as she tapped her foot abit.“It's fun fer sure. I love the sea.”

[Lucatiel]

Luca sets down the brush, getting out the scissors and a comb held in her off-hand, beginning to style and cut carefully. “Really? That sounds kinda nice! A bit like La Noscea! Oh! Oh! So then how did you end up here in Limsa!?” Her question comes out excitedly, an invisible smile on her face.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami chuckled abit as she scratched at her chin in thought”It was… a lon’ time ago. I don’t remember much of me time in Gyr Abania besides runnin’ from Garleans durin’ their occupation. Found a boat and ended up in the slums of limsa. Rest sorta sorted itself out from there. Not exactly a thrillin’ tale ta say the least.”

[Lucatiel]

The girl has begun trimming gently, listening while focusing on her task. “Ohhhh… Running from the Garleans? That sounds pretty bad… I'm glad you got away though!” She nods from behind the woman, quickly continuing to work.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami smiled.”Me ta. Though it was abit of a rough time after all that. Orphaned and all the lovely bits that come with growin’ up a gutter rat in the Limsan slums. But that’s all not exactly a fun topic… when did ya start choppin’ hair?” She asked as she tried to keep her ears still but her tail slapped against one of the chair legs.

[Lucatiel]

A frown crosses Luca's lips from behind Lami. “Aww… That sounds terrible! Everyone should have their parents!” She pauses a moment to collect herself, Lami's question shaking her out of the momentary sadness. “Oh, umm… Geez, I dunno! I used to cut my mom's hair when I was young. She would let it grow really long and then just let me mess with it! It was a ton of fun! And then, umm… I cut a boy's hair once at port! He was really eager for me to do it, so that was fun too!” *Snip snip snip*

[R'Lamiza]

Lami shrugged.“Did well enough without em. Life aint always so fair.” she said simply before she tried to brighten the mood abit.“Seems ya been doin' it awhile then….Glad ta hear I am in good hands.” Smiling abit not that Luca could see that as she remained still.

[Lucatiel]

She nods enthusiastically from behind Lami, smiling. “Yep! I'll make sure to do your hair nice and pretty!” She returns to her focus, beginning to make some larger cuts. Working with so much more hair this time took more of her attention, resulting in her being surprisingly quiet as she just hums lightly to herself. After some time, she finds a good break-point. She sets down the scissors and comb, grabbing the mirror and happily holding it in front of Lami, showing off some medium length hair.

“Umm, how about this length? I need to style it still, but… If this isn't short enough, I can go further!”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami stared straight ahead. Slightly nervous at letting someone so close to her ears in general. After which a mirror is suddenly produced to her she inspects her cut.”Sure. I think that will do nicely! Not wanting ta look like a boy…. I shaved me head short once. Was not a pretty sight… had ta wear a hat fer a good moon er ta ‘efore I could let me hair out in public again…” nodding a few times in addition to show her approval.

[Lucatiel]

The girl blinks. “Huh? Why wouldn't you want to look like a boy? I bet you'd be a cute one!” After that thought she quickly vanishes out of sight, behind the woman again and now styling. “I've thought about dressing like one before! Umm… I have, actually! As a disguise! But… Reena figured me out so now i need a new one I guess.”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami went blank for a moment.”Well,., I’m not a lad so… that’s all the reason I’d need I suppose? I had enough trouble getting treated like a girl in me youth. Shites thinkin’ I can lift crates twice me weight… arsehats…” she said mostly to herself recalling a particular memory.

[Lucatiel]

“Oh! But what if you had been! Wouldn't that be interesting!?” Lucatiel's excitement pours through her words as she continues styling Lami's hair. “You'd be all tough, and you get to be one of those cool knights! Oh, but there are lady knights too! Umm…. I dunno, it's just fun to wonder about sometime!”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami pursed her lips.“Uhhh…Lass? Knights aint in Limsa…and I am rather fine with the way I am. Don't feel the need ta be anythin' else. But I suppose I see yer point…Ya have a rather…colorful imagination. Ya know that?” She said tapping her finger on her thigh playfully.

[Lucatiel]

“I knooooow! But what if they were! Cool seafaring knights, like heavily armored pirates!” The girl smiles and nods. “I do! Thank you! Okay, I thiiiink I'm almost done!” As she finishes up the styling, she sets down her tools and grabs the hand mirror once more, swinging to in front of Lami and holding it up, smiling widely next to it.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami almost nodded but remembered she is getting her haircut so she just folded her hands in her lap as she silently sat there for awhile. Twiddling her thumbs abit. Before blurting out.”How would they even swim? Armor doesn’t exactly give the best of buoyancy…”

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel blinks, utterly confused. “Huh? How would who swim? OH KNIGHTS! Umm, I guess they'd be really strong!” She lifts the mirror up again for emphasis. “Take a look, what do you think?”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami did just that looking and giving a few nods.”Aye. That will do!” She said happily wiggling her ears to check them out.

[Lucatiel]

The girl smiles wide and puts the mirror down. “Then you're all done! I'm glad you like it Lami!” She nods before grabbing the broom and beginning to sweep up.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami stood up wiggling her ears abit with a stretch.“Ah! That's nice. Lot less weight on me head.” She said with a grin as she stepped away to let Luna clean up some more.

[Lucatiel]

Lucatiel looks over at Lami. “Good! Tell your friiiiiends! Or, umm, maybe not. I'm not a professional.”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami turned and blinked at her abit.“Ya don't wanna do this full time then?” She said folding her arms over her chest.“Well yet again not everyone is after gettin' coin as I am.” Scratching the back of her head abit.

[Lucatiel]

Luca pauses, thinking. “Weeeellll… I wouldn't mind doing it, it's a lot of fun! But umm… I dunno about as a career! Luna does her knighty thing and then she hosts the tavern, so maybe more like that! I'll be a professional healer and then a stylist on the side! That sounds like a lot of fun!”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami nodded.“Sure. That doesn't sound so bad fer sure. Guess we all have our own side gigs. Don't we?”

[Lucatiel]

The girl blinks. “Yes! Wait, we do?” Hey eyes narrow at Lami curiously as her thoughts swirl.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami purses her lips.“Aye. Least I know I do more then one thin's ta pass the time. Right?” She said reaching into her jerkin.“How much I owe ya?”

[Lucatiel]

There is a pause. “Huh? You don't owe me anything, it's a friends discount!”

[R'Lamiza]

Lami looked confused.“Wait, What? Ya…Don't wanna get paid?” She said as if the concept was alien to her in all forms.

[Lucatiel]

“Nooo, not from friends! That wouldn't be right!” She shakes her head, as if confirming her words.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami scratched the side of her head. “A-Alright. If ya insist.” Not exactly sure what to make of this idea of not paying for a service. But she wasn’t gonna question it further.

[Lucatiel]

“I do! Have a good day Laaami!” She waves the woman off, broom in her other hand, before returning to sweeping happily while humming to herself.

[R'Lamiza]

Lami offered a wave and made her way out perplexed by the whole thing but she shrugged. Now she had to prepare for a trip back east.
