Into the Wild Blue Yonder - 11/09/20
[Blue]
In the Drowning Wench, a pair of blue-haired chocobo handlers sit at an empty table, observing the goings on around them as they waited for a certain Captain R'lamiza to arrive. For a familiar if not peculiar Xaela, this would be the beginning of a lengthy trip to the East, and the woman prepared as such - sorta. Amongst the bustle of the bar crowd, the woman rested her head atop a single backpack containing a change of clothes, a chocobo feather, and an assortment of various flower hairpins. Oh. and some throwing knives, a set of daggers, a couple clear crystals… Her fingers drummed restlessly against the edges of the table, and she cast her eyes over to her partner, a soft frown forming on her face as the topic of conversation veered towards an occurrence that had happened only a night prior.`
“…I prolly shouldn't have growled at him, huh? I swear though…if I had hackles, they woulda raised at what he said!”
Blue pulled her head away from the bag in favor of crossing her arms and giving her husband a pouty look. Ah the joys of conversation as they waited for the main attraction to arrive! Psst Psst Lami PSST.
[Tretesta]
“For all the mystery and bad will towards the man, I expected… I don't know. Someone who could keep a half decent poker face?” Tret sat across from Blue, decked in the more chosen vest and boots he'd taken a liking to. He lightly rattled some ice in an otherwise drained glass as he continued “I was reminded a bit of the time I met Luna. And several meetings later. But maybe we did say some things that rubbed him wrong, if Novine says he's not like that. Maybe it was just a bad first meeting, neh?”
[Blue]
Blue huffed softly but shook her head. “First meeting for you maybes. My first meeting was at the manor when he scared me a tad bout knowing…you know. And second meeting was when he was attacking folks in Thanalan.” Her shoulders then slumped in surrender. “But I guess it was sorta my fault. The blood stuff set him off. The owning Veldi thing set me off. Maybe I can learn to be a bit better with my words on this trip. Goodness knows Lami's still a mystery to me.” The Xaela brought her fingers around a cup of now-lukewarm tea, bringing it to her lips if only to glance around to see if anyone was looking before lapping at it with her tongue. She continues, “Meanwhile I'm always on the very edge between saying something and not. I'm not very good at this secret stuff.”
[Tretesta]
“That…. No, you aren't. Your emotions get the best of you sometimes, Blue. The best thing…. Is to just leave secrets be. Everyone has them. Everyone has reasons for holding onto them.” Tret trailed off, watching with an amused expression at her choice of drinking. It never failed to make him smile “We don't have to immediately know everything about everyone we meet immediately. I know you hate hiding what you are and what you can do. You know what I hate though?” He still wore a smile, but his tone lowered as he spoke further, and Tret reached out to place a hand on her arm. “Thinking about the wrong person knowing and you getting caught and experimented on… We've had a scare now, the first in years. Quiet in voice, loud in action, Lovely. It's understandable to be angry at what he said on Veldi. Showing your anger gives your enemy a weapon.”
[R'Lamiza]
The miqo’te in question strolled into the Wench. A scowl on her face as if she’d just got done smelling rotting fish. A small voucher clenched in her hand as she grumbled what could only be a curse on whomever the voucher belonged too. Spotting Blue and quickly after Tret she’d straighten up and try to no look as pissed off as she was.
Lami was in her usual long coat a fair necklace lay flat on what little exposed skin her outfit allowed. She’d pull up to the pair and sit down running her fingers through her hair offering the two another bright smile before looking over and Barking at a nearby tavern wench”OI! DRINK!” She pointed angrily at a particular spot as the tavern worker fetched her what she requested. Seemingly to already know what the seeker desired.” Not been here ta lon’ I hope?” She said with a wiggle of her ears.
[Blue]
Blue flicked an earfin at Tret's words, though she stopped drumming her fingers as he took hold of her arm. “I..well…you've a point. Maybe during this trip I can just relax for a bit and focus on other things aside from those fears. But there was something Eligor said that threw me off. Something bout even if he did wanna attack us for some reason or other, he wouldn't be strong enough? ..Or something strange like that.” In truth, Blue'd been way too focused on other conversation points going on throughout the encounter to capture it for certain. She looks up and away from Tret as she hears Lami stride in and take a seat at their table.
Near instantly, the harried Xaela straightens, her tail smacking against the back of her seat with ferver as she greets the Miqo'te with a happy wave and a cheery giggle. “Hiya Lami! We've only been here long enough to slake our thirst, no worries.” Curious eyes flicker from the woman's face to the tavern worker as they hurried with her order.
“Have things been well for you? You've been rather quiet of late, I was worried our trip mighta been cancelled!”
[Tretesta]
Tret turns as they were joined, opening his mouth to greet her when she suddenly yelled. He stopped before he even began and allowed Lami the chance to order a drink before he'd try again “Ahem, well hello there, capitan! Yes, not too long.” He wasn't much for words for the time being, content to let the women speak.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami chuckled abit as she rubbed the back of head abit. Her drink making it’s way to its new home. As she took a quick drink from the Stein. “Sorry! Just had a bit of personal shite ta sort through ‘efore we take off proper. I’ve been doin’ wel enough nuthin’ ta out of the ordinary fer me.” Nodding as tret spoke.”Glad I didn’t keep ya waitin’ lon’ then!”
[Blue]
Blue was bright eyed and scaley-tailed, nodding as she listened to the woman before setting her free hand on top of the bag before her. “I'm not bringing too much with me. I figure if I need anything I can get it over in Kugane easily enough.”
Her opposite arm, the one held by Tret, would weave around his own playfully, searching out for his hand to squeeze. “Do you think our linkpearls will work that far away? Was wondering if I could still bother Tret a bunch as he worked, tell him all that's happening and all I've been learning from you!”
[Tretesta]
“updates that don't take forever to mail out would certainly be nice…” Tret allows Blue to take his hand, squeezing hers in return as he smiles to Lami “I'm not super familiar with the little things, other than sometimes it buzzes and tells me I can make some money doing odds and ends… Don't think Ive even tried using one to call anyone I know.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded.”Aye. Lon’ as they ain’t shite ones they should work fine. Though if I can manage ta teach ya abit more of that aether business ya might be able ta make a few trips home via the crystals in the major cities.” She said taking a long swig of her ale.” But ya shouldn’t need much. I’ll feed ya and all that. So ya won’t ‘ave ya worry ‘bout much. Hopin’ I can ‘ave her all good ta go in a moon er ta but will ‘ave ta see how she takes ta the whole business.” Taking yet another gulp. The stien was empty. Seemingly having calmed herself down, even if that wasn’t obvious on the outside.
[Blue]
Blue leaned over the table to prod Lami playfully. “You'll feed me will you? Lami knows how to cook then?” She teases before drawing back into her seat with a smile and drawing her hands back into her lap. “I think I should be able to learn easily enough! It's not that Tret or I haven't done sneaky things before this after alls, but perhaps not exactly in a proper way..” She muses to herself for a moment before nodding. “And I've taken care of my business here. Tret's gonna take care of the chocobos out at the estate while I'm gone, so they'll treated to only the best gysahl greens. Will your bird Edel be sailing with us by the way?”
[Tretesta]
Tret chuckles softly and hums a few bars of a song at the mention of Lami's chocobo. he then taps the table top and looks to Blue “Feeding you, that reminds me. As it turns out, I'm still sorta kinda probably shouldn't be on the books with East Aldenard company. I recall they have a representative out there. See if you can find them and tell them you want to withdraw the Kerberion Account. Maybe mention “The Deli” if they ask questions. I'll put some cash in. Feeding you is fine and well, but I'm sure you'll want to get some other things.” He turned back to Lami and nodded “See that she gets over there, neh? Never hurts to have some stable money, in case things are a little… dry.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami almost glared at Blue.“I happen ta be a damn fine cook.” Lifting her ale for a drink to find it empty. Setting down the stien with a sigh.“She will be. She has a pen next ta Mika. They seem ta get alon' well enough.” Nodding to Tret.“Aye. I'll make sure she gets abit of play money.” The bar wench finding Lami's stien empty quickly rushed over to refill it. Giving a small nod on thanks.
[Blue]
Blue clapped her hands together gleefully before winking over to Tret. “I'll have to see if Lami beats your cooking expertise, won't I?” With a grin, the Xaela looked back to her Miqo'te companion and laughed. “I'm glad those two birds of a feather get along. Truthfully I was worried at first. I imagine a beast like Mika could eat a choco or two for lunch if she saw fit. Oh, Lami!” Blue plucks out a small clear crystal from her pack, holding it out in the palm of her hand. A second or two of staring enough and blue swirls would begin to form inside before bleeding out into a bright blue sheen. “I'm getting the hang of aether stuff…maybe. Prolly not really, but I can turn the crystal blue really easily now, that's progress right?”
[Tretesta]
Tret would simply smile and nod, getting up and following after the server back to the main counter. Out of earshot, he left the women to discuss their situation for a bit and busied himself with bothering Baderon while he waited for refills of his and Blue's drinks.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami grinned as she went to down her newly refilled drink. “She could if she wanted ta. But usually keep her fed enough where she doesn’t feel the need ta. I know her fairly well by now.” Setting the drink down as tret left the table. Looking back at blue.”Well we will have plenty of time aboard the cry ta see just how far ya’ve come.” Wiggling her ears abit.”Once I’ve finished me drink here I believe it will be ‘bout time ta shove off.”
[Blue]
Blue looked off after Tret, earfins flicking as she listened and glanced back to her miqo'te friend with a determined little nod. “I'll do my very best! I only hope I can get even stronger than I already am!” She wraps her fingers around her cup once more, this time taking a proper sip with company about and wriggles about in her seat excitedly. “From nature gal to chocobo handler to grindstone fighter to sneaky thief! And I think maybe I could get some additional lessons on aether from Novine when we return. I can't wait…though I'll miss everyone here. I hope everything is mostly the same when we get back home.”
[Tretesta]
Tret returns, tucking something away in a hip pouch, and places his hands on Blue's shoulders as he stands behind her “I'll make sure it all stays the same as possible, Lovely. Can't have everything being different on you with all you're doing. how will you adjust?!” He leaned down and kissed the top of her head, then looked up to Lami, raising a brow “Already that time then? Gah… Wish we had another day now. Been somewhat dreading this the whole time. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself, other than work to death.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami finished her second drink in a similar fashion to the first. Setting the Stein down with the tossing of a few coins she’d stand up and stretch.”They say time passes by when yer busy. Mayhap when we return ya can take Blue on yer own little trip.” Smirking at the hyur before looking to Blue.”No time like the present. Ship should be up ta snuff and ready ta sail by the time we make our way down there. Will have ta introduce ya ta the crew proper and all that.” She said with the wiggle of her ears.”I’ll be just outside when ya’ve said her final goodbyes. Don’t need me ruinin’ a potentially touchin’ moment.” Snickering abit in a light tease she’d throw her hands behind her head and confidently stride in the direction of the stairwell that led to the lower decks of the city.
[Blue]
Blue looks up at Tret with a smile in response to the kiss and his answer, that is, before a flicker of a frown registered on her lips as Lami stood up. She offered a light sigh and a nod. “I'll be right behind you!” She watched the miqo'te stride down the stairs before looking to her hyur once more. “Ah…I'm not fond of goodbyes you know. I'm sure I'll be in good hands…don't work too hard over here…” Her latter words were becoming a mess of jumbled phrases as the Xaela stood up from her seat if only to pounce on Tret with her arms wrapped around his neck and a tight loving squeeze.
“I promise I'll call out for you every morning and every night, so you dun have to worry about what all I'm getting into. Is not really the same as being face to face…I'll miss you…”
[Tretesta]
Tret could only smile as she stumbled over cliches and anxiousness, then caught her expectantly when she finally attacked “I'll keep the thing on me all day, no worry, Love. Will be looking forward to hearing from you too, and will try not to get into too much trouble so that you worry. I'll miss you too.” He tipped her chin up and kissed her deeply, squeezing the smaller woman against himself as they embraced. Eventually, he broke away and rest his forehead against hers “Now, get out there and learn something. I'll be here waiting, Blue.”
[Blue]
Blue kisses him back, wiping at her eyes when they both finally withdrew to nod. “I'll do my best….um…see you soon!” The Xaela was indeed, quite terrible at goodbyes, still sniffling as she gave Tret a hurried hug and ran off in the direction Lami wandered off in before she'd be too misty-eyed to leave her lover proper.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami leaned against the wall at the bottom of the stairwell. Flipping a coin over and under in her palm.“All set ta go then?” She said giving Blue the chance to sort herself out.“Then lets be off! A shining sea and beautiful waves await us!” She said with a smile as she shoved off the wall.
Lami strode down the narrow bridge pathways that wound the length of Limsa's Lower decks looking back at Blue she'd say.“Have ya ever seen the Cry 'efore? I ferget if I've ever had ya 'round me girl 'efore.” Tapping her chin as she lept atop the guardrails maid of stone. Looking out over the sea with a grin on her features. “Excited? Nervous? I think ya said ya've been on a boat 'efore but I never really knew what kind er any of that shite. Ya get sea sick?”Starting to bombard the Xaela with questions. Trying to help get her mind of her temporary separation from her other half.
[Blue]
Blue straightened herself up when she spotted Lami again, though it was quite easy to see that the poor gal had been teary-eyed. Still, she put on her brave happy face and nodded. “Almost forgot my pack and everything!” She hoisted her bag back up onto her shoulders for emphasis before hop-skipping closer.
The Xaela looked around a bit, never having had a need to get down on the lower decks before herself, at least, not often enough to remember it vividly. “No, this'll be the first time I see your ship!” She answers earnestly, watching the cat as she took to the guard rails and looked out over the sea. Blue had to admit that she did enjoy the sea air and the view for that matter. “I'm excited, n' I think I'll have lotsa fun learning, but it'll definitely be different…dun think Tret and I have been apart for so long befores…we did end up on a boat heading out to Thavnair but weird stuff happened within the first few days that the trip itself was kind of a daze. I didn't get seasick though! I like the heave and the tilt and the rockiness!”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami chuckled.“Well even if ya did…Ya might fit sum of me shite…maybe. Unless yer packing shite I can't see from here. In which case I don't wanna know.” She said with a snicker as she continued her casual catwalk of the sidewall.“She's beautiful! I am quiet proud of me girl! can't wait ta show ya!” As they made their way down lower she'd jump off the railing and onto the last bit of stone flooring. Growing ever closer to the Fishing Guild and it's various outcrops for their craft.“Took the road less traveled route. Don't want pryin' eyes if I can help it! Wouldn't do ya good ta get thrown in as a new crewmember. Might bite ya in the Arse later on.”
As they walked Lami's steps where silent even as the waves crashed over the lower parts of the docks and water ran over the wood.“Gettin' close now!” Pointing towards the crows nest of a particular Galion sized vessel
[Blue]
Blue giggled at Lami's enthusiasm for her ship, bi-colored eyes flicking away from the woman in favor of looking out to boats off in the distance, pondering which one would belong to her mentor. She tilted her head at the woman's words though about not wanting to be seen. “Oooh Lami, are you doing illegal things on your boat?” She leans in close and begins to whisper conspiratorially - “Do your crewmates know all the sneaky illegal stuff is going on?” Eyes wide and wondering. It appeared the Xaela herself was more curious than anything else though, her own morality system being completely reliant on how others treated her rather than how others treated the world around them. Oh yeah and the whole learning to be a thief thing. As Lami mentioned getting close, the Xaela peered up to where she pointed, causing the blue-haired Au Ri to stop and simply admire the vessel. “Its….SO….BIG….”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami smirked.“Let's just say I am a simple Delivery girl. Whatever is in the crates I deliver is none of me concern. The crew knows only that. Save a few on board but ya will know em when I introduce em. Rest of em are questionable ta begin with. But if ya can manage yerself at the Hounds ya will be alright.” She said as the continued to get closer.“Aye! That she is! I manage a pretty big hall each time I leave port. Hence why I tend ta…not leave very often. Better ta not be so predictable like sum of yer more….honesty tradesmen.” She said with a grin and a wink.“Also a fun fact. The Short Stack gave me this ship while I was doin' a particular job fer em lon' time past.” Looking at Blue as the rounded a corner onto the dock that the Cry was tied off too. Still a fair walk down the way before Blue would be able to get a good notion of how large the vessel was.
[Blue]
Blue brightened at the mention of the Hounds. “Oh, if they're anything like those folk we'll be fast friends!” If the Xaela had feathers she woulda started preening, quite proud of her ability to manage herself er well…just being herself that is. The woman nods however in response, though she finds herself pondering what the woman might be delivering. She flicks an ear. “Short Stack?” Her eyes are glued to the vessel they were heading towards however, seemingly quite distracted. This was much bigger than the boat the pair of blue-haired lovers had hitched a ride on a couple years prior. That had been…a passenger ship? She couldn't remember what Tret had said. This however looked big enough to fit another ship in it, if it wanted to! “Oooh…”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami grinned.“Eli. Me nick name fer em when he's not 'round. He's got…interestin' friends…and enemies. So I prefer ta not go blurtin' out his name willy nilly.” She would stop before the Cry.“And here she is! The Cry! The Cry of Murderers!”She'd extend her hand at the Hull of the ship. Smiling.“Welcome ta yer new home. Least fer a little while!”
The Hull was lined with a dark Brown wood with Metal beams running along it's length to give it protection and solidifying the ship as a unit. Sitting at what could be three stories in height not including the top deck, The ship was fairly massive. Slots for cannons lined the middle two decks with a few odd looking magitech looking weapons sat facing outwards towards the front.
Lami walked up to the gangway coming out of the Bow of the Ship.“And this is where we enter!” Pointing down towards the Stern.“That's where Cargo's loaded on and off. Unless ya wanna end up in a crate fer yer trip. I wouldn't go in down there.” She said with a playful wink. Having a few scruffy looking Hyur's loading crates onto the ship of a dwindling pile.“Seems we made it in time…Though they shoulda been done by now…Lardarse.”She said glaring as they felt her eyes on them putting some life into their step.“So then! Lets give ya the tour!”
[Blue]
Blue hums thoughtfully to herself. Eligor had a buncha nicknames. Footstool….now Short Stack. Clearly in reference to….blank. What weird name choices. “Ah…I see…better safe than sorry!” The Xaela was still sore in heart after their last encounter, more than happy to distract herself with observing the ship instead and its weapons. “Do you…get attacked a bunch?” She asks to the open air, blinking and catching up with Lami as she describes the various parts of the ship and where the cargo lay. And then people! Blue watches ever closely, giggling as the cat's remarks seem to stir them into action. “Show me more!”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded and she trotted across the gangway.“The best defense is offense. And I don't care ta take me chances and gettin' overrun with Garleans er whatever other sort of Urchins try ta clin' ta me hull.” She walked into the main chamber of the Ship. Four passageways lay before them, Two on either side of a fairly large room.“Alright so.”Pointing to her right and the one closest to them.“This leads ta the stairwell that will take ya up ta anyfloor er the main deck if ya up fer a hike.”Pointing to the one next to it.“There is the Messhall. Where yers truely tends ta cook fer the crew…If they are lucky and I don't feel like making em suffer fer a shites days werk.” Pointing now to the two on the otherside.“These both have stairwells as well, But , one leads ta the crews sleepin' quarters down below, And the other ta the gundeck. So if ya lookin' ta go topside I'd avoid em. OH! And if ya don't fancy sleepin' with the crew I can fund a place ta stuff a cot in me quarters if ya don't mind me habbits.” Turning to Blue.“So, Whatcha want ta check out first?” Giving Blue the option of to choose where and how their tour played out.
[Blue]
The Xaela listened intently, eyes going from each place as it was described, only butting in when the mention of a cot in Lami's quarters was brought up, to which Blue nodded quite vigorously. “I'd rather stay with you, no offense to your crew and all, I'm sure they're super nice to hang around!” When given the option to choose where to go, the female pointed towards the mess hall, a smile crossing her lips. “I wanna see where I get to see how well you cook!” A playful wink of her own given.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded.“Alright then!” She'd make her way towards the hall, Pushing out the double doors.“And here we are!” she said, The hall wasn't large, But not exactly small. A fair bit of space and 6 long rectangle tables sat in the room. Butted up against the fare wall and lined with seats that did not all have a patron at all times, Directly to the left of the Pair lay a Kitchen partially open for viewing from the hall Lami strode around the island showing Blue the stove, Oven and other various cooking utensils she had organized around the space. Luckily for Blue, She was a Raen and Lami was a Miqo'te. Going to far into this nook would leave them in a tight squeeze, Lami chuckled.“I also my be the cook cause half the crew can't fit back here..”Scratching her head with a light blush.“But they don't complain. Ta much.” Looking at Blue adding.“And sure, I'll dig out me old cot and stretch 'er out sumplace.”
[Blue]
The Au Ri followed Lami into the little kitchenette only to find herself very nearly stuck! “Oooh, this is quite small. Just big enough to get food out though, and that's what matters!” Luckily Blue is quite adept at dealing with small spaces, slipping by the miqo'te with only brush of her clothing rustling past. “I lived in a tree for a while…it was kinda this small, but all gnarled and stuff so you had to always watch out for a bunch of branches or get snagged!” She giggles at the memory and continues, motioning to the otherwise organized area “Plus, who knows if your crew would keep everything in its place and stuff! You being the cook you know where everything should be.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami snorted and said, rather loudly with intent to be heard.”Ya, and they probably wouldn’t get the food DONE ON TIME. Like a few SLACKIN’ HYUR’S I KNOW.” Folding her arms over her chest smiling at Blue pleased with herself.” That and I doubt they would make anythin’ werth eatin’. It’s a good pass time fer me as well when me minds all fogged up with bullshite.” Looking around the kitchen. “Well then. Shall we head up?” Moving to exit the kitchen.
[Blue]
Blue just smiled as Lami raised her voice, earfins tingling. She could almost swear that she heard some mutterings and the hurried movements of others as a result. Casting one last glance at the kitchen, the Au ri nodded, making way for Lami to follow her up and out, tail swaying happily. “You're so leader-like!” She says, admiration in her voice.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami just laughed. “Nah. I think impatient and bitchy is more accurate.” She said as they rounded the stairs a pair of seekers, closed the gangway with a nod to Lami and a curious look at Blue, whispering something to each other inaudible. Earning a glare from Lami as they assessed the stairs. Entering the next floor before them lay the rows of cannons. And directly to their right, another spiral in the staircase and a hallway.” Down that hallway is me quarters. And where ya will sleep as well.” She said turning to Blue as she entered the room.
[Blue]
The Xaela followed after Lami, skipping over every other step as they traveled up the stairs. Her head lifted up at the sight of other crew mates- more cats! - And resisted the temptation to reach out and poke at their ears. Blue was gonna be on her best behavior! Or try..she glanced over at the cannons with a tilt of her head before scaling up more stairs, and huffing softly to the Miquo'te. “You weren't kidding Lami..this place is huge…I can tell just by all the staaairs…” She looks down the hallway where Lami's quarters would be, nodding obediently.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami rubbed the back of her head.”Ya. She can be abit much. But she’d home. Let’s head up ta the top deck. While I have a plan er ta fer the trip ta keep yer mind busy. That can wait fer abit. Let’s see if the rest of the crew was as lazy as the others while the cat was away.” She said obviously pleased with what she thought was a witty analogy. Ascending the next two floors with an ease of practice before they where assaulted by the kinsman air.” And this is top deck!” The pair walked out of an overhang just below the highest deck, where the controls for the ship lay. Mostly flat and open deck lay before them. A few barrels of water and racks for weapons placed in strategic spots. “Should be time ta shop off.” Strolling out and around towards her own post.” Feel free ta snoop ‘bout we join me up top. Whatever yer heart desires. Ya will ‘ave plenty of time ta get ta know the cry.”
[Blue]
Blue was just about as excited as could be as they made their way up and closer to the top of the deck, eyes wide and staring out at encompassing view of the sea in turn. She rushes on out to grab the edge of what railing there be, hopping up and down as she listened to Lami. She looked over her shoulder at the woman, bright grin on her face. “Oooh, I wanna see the ship set off proper then, n' this is as good as any spot to view it from!” She swings around to face the captain, bringing a hand up to her brow in salute- or at least what she thought was one. “Do you need any help?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami opened her mouth and then snorted out a laugh.”No no. Yer a guest. Not crew. If ya wanna learn then maybe I’ll stick ya with me first mate while we are on our voyage. He’ll show ya the ropes. But if not don’t worry ‘bout it. Yer on board as a friend of mine so werkin’ ain’t required.” Smirking still at Blue’s salute. Before turning and taking the helm with a loud shout.”Let’s get this show on the road!” Before the ship lurched to the side free of the piers iron grip. Floating out slowly before Lami made the signal to drop the sails and the wind filled them as they where drawn out to sea. A wide grin on the Miqo’te’s face.
[Blue]
Blue figured she was already bound to learn a bunch on this voyage- if she added shiply duties to that too the Xaela might just short circuit. Still….she nodded at Lami's words and braced against the railing when the ship lurched and shoved off the pier, scaley tail a flurry of wags.
“Aaaand we're off!” The woman declares gleefully, staring up in fascination as the sails were unfurled and the motion of the ship only elicited further excitement. Without a lick of hesitation the lil Au Ri just begins waving out at the retreating dock.
“Bye Treeet! Bye Shroud! Bye friends!” Her earsfins droop a bit thinking of all of them slowly but surely getting further and further away but Blue bites her lip and manages a grin before she turns around and skips over to Lami.
[Tretesta]
An explosion sounded from the upper decks of Limsa as the boat began pulling away from port. A short while later there another BANG. This one resulted in a field of glittering blue and purple stars filling the sky above a growing trail of smoke. Oh, and an alarm started going off in the city. |
[R'Lamiza]
Lami jumped at the sudden bangs turning towards her crew starting to yell “WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SHOT A FUCKIN’” pausing as she saw the displays.”Cannon….” her eyes slowly finding blue as she skipped over.”Ya sure do ‘ave a lovin’ husband…..” looking like she wanted to say more but she returned to the display.”Why do I get the feelin’ I’m gonna get tied ta that bullshite when we get back.” Sighing at a potential future misfortune.
[Blue]
Blue also jumped at the sudden bangs sounding around them. Eyes wide, she shoots her gaze back towards the docks and then up at the pretty and vibrant display shooting up in the air for her - about as fond a farewell as the Xaela could ask for. She clutches her hands to her chest with delight, and to her own surprise, blushes at Lami's words. “Yeah…he's a keeper.” Trying to prevent herself from getting all misty-eyed again, the woman merely consoles her miqo'te friend with an affectionate shoulder pat. “I doubt they'd stress out for many moons over a buncha fireworks in the sky. We're fine.” And Tret's pretty good at runnin' , Blue thinks to herself fondly.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami just shook her head.” Ya… let’s hope.” Coughing and turning to the open sea.”Now that mornin’ husbands are outta the picture.” Chuckling at her own crude joke.”Let’s be off! Once we are out ta open sea. We can start abit of recap on what ya learned so far. Ya?”
[Blue]
Blue nods, bringing balled up fists to her cheeks as she thinks of all the practice she'd been doing when work got slow just to prepare proper! “Sounds like a a good plan!” the girl enthuses.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami smiled. “Good.” Turning her attention to steering the ship.”Feel free ta explore. The crew knows not ta bother ya. If they do. Let me know. And I’ll have em gagged.” She said with a sweet but not so innocent smile.
[Blue]
The Xaela hmms softly. Where do I wanna goooo? She leaves Lami to her steering in favor of taking the steps down again two at a time, hopping onto the floor below with a confident clack of her boots before bringing her hand over her eyes and looking for the Miqo'te's quarters. The Au Ri wouldn't be against knowing where she was to sleep. And the pack she carried was getting a bit heavy. Tail wagging, she makes for the hallway Lami had pointed out- maybe. The hallways all looked the same to the lizard.
[R'Lamiza]
The hallway was long. And it had a single door at the end of it. Perhaps this was her chamber? The hallway had a few windows in it in the shape of portholes. The steady rocking of the ship and the clatter of crewmen running around above her where her only companions.
[Blue]
Blue scurries down the hallway, enjoying the feel of the open air and the casual clattering of the crew working. She casts a glance out to where Limsa Lominsa was slowly fading away from view before stopping at the single door. With just the slightest fidget of one uncertain was to whether this was the right room or not, she rears back and pounces the door full on with her little lizard weight.
[R'Lamiza]
The auri bursts into a wide room. The floor seems to be made differently then the rest of the deck. A soft almost squishy like matting covered the floors and the walls up to about waist height. A giant door on the opposite room that looked an oversized door. Though it was closed at this time windows lined the wall to allow a dim light into the room. If blue was quiet she’d hear the soft sound of breathing from her right, a small pen was there and the beak of some creature was sticking out, obviously a Chocobo. Directly ahead the shadow of a large creature. Whose head had raised at Blues energetic entrance. Luckily for Blue she’d met Lami’s griffin once before as she rose up raising her wings in an menacing fashion before recognizing Blue she settled down keeping her eyes in her making a chirping sound in her general direction.
[Blue]
The Xaela's forward momentum successfully grants her access to the room! Blue was almost going to give a triumphant cheer when she noticed that the room was a bit dark and smelled more…hmm…earthy? than the rest of the ship. Of course the woman had been around chocobos often enough to recognize the makings of a stable area, vision adjusting to the dimness of the room as she rubs the back of her arm and creeps in closer.
And then flared wings!
“Ahhhh! - Oh Mika, it's you!” The Xaela glanced over to the smaller pen, and while she couldn't see the rest of the chocobo, the beak was all she needed to see to identify the griffon's companion, extending her arms out to both of the creatures for a hearty petting the the beak. “Edel! Glad to see you again little lady.” Blue looked around the room, seeming to observe the conditions of the pens before nodding in satisfaction. “Looks like Lami's treating you both wonderful, like I had any doubts.”
[R'Lamiza]
Mika continued to watch Blue from her makeshift nest. Lower her head and returning to her slumber. Edel however woke the moment she drew close. Laying on a bed made of straw seeming comfortable she rose up “KWEH!” She bellowed her limp wing in a harnes to keep it from hindering her. Flapping her good wing in greeting
[Blue]
Blue beamed, withdrawing her hands as Mika settled back down and looking over Edel and her sling. “Looks good on you too, Edel dear. Since we're both gonna be on this ship for a while I'll have plenty of chances to examine you proper, but I bet you and Mika just wanna sleep!” The Xaela gives both big birds a wave, casting one more glance around the room before (more quietly) walking out of it and gently latching the door shut behind her.
Blue hums thoughtfully to herself, a moment if realization crossing her features. “That..prolly wasn't Lami's room.” She muses and heads back to the stairwell to go down another set of floors.
[R'Lamiza]
Blue would come down the stairs and find a similar layout. Only the windows sat higher on the walls. So the lighting was slightly dimmer. There was the bay before her and the hallway to her right
[Blue]
Blue taps her chin thoughtfully as she looks from the bay to the hallway and back again. Decisions decisions.
She moves down the hall with a skip to her step, remembering that she'd wanted to drop off her pack of many knives and essentially anything that would it fit in her dress pocket. The Xaela looks for the door, and once more rams the brunt of her body against it as a means of opening up.
[R'Lamiza]
As Blue entered the room she would find directly to her right, a large desk covered with organized papers and an ashtray with a half-enjoyed Cigar butted into a slot on its side. Behind this desk was a small table that spared not free room covered in bottles of various drinks. Directly in front of her was a wall that had a plain tan curtains swaying with the ship. A small hallway to her left led to another Curtain. This was obviously Lami’s room. Paintings of various places in Kugane and Limsa hung on the walls.
[Blue]
Blue lifted her nose and sniffed, observing the room from the door before slowly making her way inside. “Hmm..smells like Lami..” The Xaela murmurs before dropping her bag beside the door. She could stash it somewhere proper later. Blue's tail wagged merrily- she was gonna explore!
The little lizard darts for the desk, swooping down to be on proper eye level with the cigar- before blinking and weaving her way over to the table full of bottles and making most certain to clink at each one of them with her fingers, earfins waggling.
The curious lizard had to touch or poke at everything, staring out at the opposite curtain to which the woman batted aside like a cat, a moment of clarity and focus before her eyes glanced from one painting of landscapes to the next.
[R'Lamiza]
The curtain continued to sway, if Blue went down the hallway next she’d find a proper bathroom complete with a tube and even a throne. A surprisingly diverse display of makeup and other cosmetics. A large mirror ran the length of a counter that was accompanied by a sink. A few more pictures of various places around the ocean nations adorned the walls. Lami can be heard barking some sort of orders through the ceiling.
[Blue]
The Xaela peeked past the curtain, eyes alighting upon the magnificent throne on one side of the room. “Wha..” She manages to murmur in fascination before looking to the tub and from there the assortment of makeup. The Xaela tilts her head curiously, observing the bottles and pigments with interest. She picks a compact up, bringing it up to her face and opening it up with a hurried click, if only to end up with loose crumpled bits of pink rocket launching their way to her face. The Xaela coughs and rubs at the smattered pigment, clicking the compact shut as she stares at the mirror. Seemed she'd accidentally rubbed a bit of blush onto various parts of her blue-hued face.
“…Is this how it works?” The woman questions the empty room before hearing Lami shouting up above. She admires the pink smudges on her face some more before exiting the washroom and the room entirely. There was more to uncover.
[R'Lamiza]
Blue would come out into the now familiar hallway. At the end would be the stairwells to her left or the open room behind a small doorway. Abit of footsteps echoed from the chamber but nothing seemed out of the normal as the rushing about in the upper decks started to settle.
[Blue]
Blue creeps toward the open room curiously. Her shoulder hurt from her past two attempts at forcing doors open, so an open door was a welcome relief, ears flicking occasionally at the thumping footsteps of busy workers.
[R'Lamiza]
Blue would find a pair of Seeker's going about their business cleaning the cannons and preparing them for use. Not having noticed Blue as of yet they continued their work talking amongst themselves in a quiet whisper. Flinching at the any overloud sounds. Clearly nervous around the cannons.
[Blue]
Blue observed the quiet whispering seekers with interest from the doorway. Stilling her heart's desire to greet them loudly and enthusiastically, the Xaela instead ducks down into a crouch before she can be seen proper. Her tail waves idly behind her as she attempts a mad yet quiet scramble for the cannon farthest away from the seekers. A simple peek up from the weapon and the Xaela slips closer, and closer, and closer still.
This was gonna be some surprise! Blue stifles a playful giggle when she gets as close as she's able to before just downright hopping on top of the cannon they had just finished cleaning, her hands on her hips as she appraises the Miquo'tes warmly.
“Whatcha doin?”
[R'Lamiza]
The seekers both jumped for a moment before seeing Blue.“Oi. What are ya doin' here?” One of them said his eyes looking Blue over for a moment.“Oh ya that Wench the Captain brought on? She does seem lonely these days.” The one nudging the other with a knowing grin. But she didn't find his jest amusing as she knocked him upside the head.“Ignore this clod. Y'nai. You are the girl the Captain brought on, Right?”
[Blue]
“I'm exploring!” The Xaela grins before dropping off the canon so as to not cause an accidental misfire. Never knew with this girl. She tilts her head at the male's words before nodding in agreement. “Lami does seem to need more friends around!” Looking to the other woman the girl bows politely. “I'm Blue! And yes, Lami's my teacher and I'm gonna learn a bunch of things from her!”
[R'Lamiza]
Y'nai smiled.“I see. I think I remember her saying something about that. Ignore my bore of a companion. All he's good for is cleaning cannons.” The male seeker said nothing just grumbled under his breath walking away form the pair.“So, you like the Cry so far?” She said trying to sound chipper. The ships rocking began to ease up as the grew more and more distant from the shoreline. Now fading to nothing but sea surrounding the ship.
[Blue]
Blue was a little ball of happiness, waving a frenzied farewell to the male miqo'te the moment he wandered two ilms away from the pair before commenting, “He seems nice!” She looks to Y'nai at her question and nods, her legs firmly following the gentle swaying of the ship with relative ease in spite of the fact that she could count the times she were on a boat with one hand and minus two fingers.
“It's different from what I'm used to, that's for sure…been a while since I haven't come home to a bunch of flowers and trees and things. Now there's the sea…and even more sea after that! But nobody's been mean so I think I can get along well!”
[R'Lamiza]
The seeker chuckled.“Oh wait. There are a few…interesting boat guests aboard. The Captain did a purge not too long ago for some odd reason…“She said with a casual shrug before she turned to begin following her compatriot.”Feel free to explore to your hearts content. But I'd avoid the lower decks. Living quarters for the crew can be abit…messy. And then theirs the storage bay that might not open back up if you wiggle your way in. Seems captain has a rather large haul this time around.” Waving again.“Oh and Welcome aboard.”
[Blue]
Blue listens, smiles, and salutes the seeker as she makes to leave the area. “I'll keep that in mind! I'm definitely not done exploring yet though! I hope to see you around!” The girl was her scaley tail at the retreating woman before she follows suite as well. Hmm…a storage bay that might not open itself back up is a problem for other people, not so much Blue…and investigating curious little messy places are what the shapeshifter did best! Maybe later..when she got bored. For now there were plenty of other rooms to rush! With evident glee on her features, Blue scrambles out and scurried onward for further adventure.
[R'Lamiza]
Blue came out to a familiar Bay Area that led either to the lower decks or Lami’s personal quarters. Whistling and various shanties start to be sung from the upper decks. The sound of footsteps can be heard sounding from the stairwell.
[Blue]
Blue didn't need to listen twice, her attention drawn to the sounds coming from the upper decks. With a wag of her tail, she hurries back to the upper decks to look for the sources proper.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami was peering around. Obviously looking for Blue. “Ah. There ya are. Get bit of yer explorin’ itch scratched?” Folding her arms over her chest with a proud smile.
[Blue]
Blue wriggled her ears happily as she heard a familiar voice cutting through the chorus before swinging around and making for the woman herself. “Yes!” The girl declares before bringing her palms up to her cheeks as if to contain some of her excitement. She looks at Lami, eyes wide, a look of awe on her features. “Your ship is amazing!”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami beamed with pride.”She is a beauty isn’t she?” Her smile contagiously wide as she strode back towards the stairwell.”Ya find me quarters alright?” As she started to make her way there.
[Blue]
Blue skips on after the miquo'te, her boots skidding to a stop the moment she'd catch up with her, if only to jiggle in place happily and allow Lami to take the lead once more before repeating the motion. The xaela giggles and nods when questioned.
“Yes! But first I found Mika and Edel. You've taken good care of them! And theeen I found your quarters- you've such a fancy throne- I didn't know you liked make up so much- I snuck up on your crew in the room of canons too!” The poor gal was running out of breath.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami blinked a few times.“Guess Mika recognized ya then…“Giving Blue a strange look.”Throne? Oh. that. Aye. Might as well be comfy…And I do try ta care 'bout how I look! I just…end up fergettin' ta keep that same effort as the days go by…“Stopping in front of her room.”I believe that extra cot is under me bed.” She said opening the door and leading Blue inside.
[Blue]
Blue and Lami would go on to settle in the captain's quarters, comforted in the knowledge that The Cry was manned and heading eastward with little trouble.
Blue would unpack the myriad of things from her pack as her miquo'te friend set up the cot for her to sleep in. Soon after, the Xaela would proceed to talk excitedly with Lami about her slew of little adventures, promising playfully that she wasn't quite done running amok and exploring every avenue the ship had to offer.
This was only the first day of many on Lami's ship, and as far as Blue was concerned, it was a brilliant start for many adventures to come, by both sea and upon reaching land at last. |
