04/18/22 - Repairing the Tek
Note- Gauge played by Astra
[Gauge]
Gauge was working on some parts mostly marked as garlean magitek scraps in the leased out apartment she managed to snag up. The cold air of Ishgard gave her some familiarity to something she thought she knew.
The apartment was a bit overpriced as the demand had grown with the development opening in Ishgard. However, she managed to make a small loft over her work area.
Deconstructed as a Magitek Armor suit, and harnessed up was something different. A monstrosity of parts to a quiet humming motor. At least it had power.
“Gauge’s Repair” was written on the door in poor handwriting. Not comfortable working with the Iron Works or Sky Steel, she worked as a contract worker.
As the young woman worked, she began to zone out. The noise of silence first followed by the screaming, then the silence. She closed her eyes, and tried to push the mental terrors away. Not hearing the door chime for customers.
[R'asha]
R'asha wandered down the street. A coat draped across her shoulders, and a hood pulled over her ears. While she had spent some time in colder climates. She was not happy about being here. She however did have business with some fur traders up this way.
Pulling her pack over her shoulder a bit more she'd spot a sign that would peak her interest. Clicking her tongue as she almost walked by, Deciding to kick the idea. Her customer was in the same area, So she decided to give it a knock.
[Gauge]
Gauge was deep in a trance that the door caused her to snap out of it. A crash could be heard and a loud “Fuck.”
A rather messy smudged up mix blood that appeared elezen but not opened up. The door had chimes on it, and made nose when she opened. She pretty much opened the door all the way looked at the sign that said “open.”
“Can I help you?” She said a bit confused, she went to the counter to write up an order for R'asha, not entirely sure what was going on. Trying to shake her mental fog.
[R'asha]
R'asha sort of, Looked around the room.“Uhh…I was actually just genuinely curious. Not used to these sorts of places popping up…Magitech and all.”
She looked gauge over with a risen brow. “You okay?”
[Gauge]
Gauge laughed uneasily…
“I'm fine… the healers say there nothing wrong with me… but… uhhh yeah. Magitech will probably be seen more now that the Garlean empire is busted, and their engineers will eventually blend in with those will to accept them. There is plenty of broken tech in this land… I….”
Gauge move over to the purring core of the Frankensteined thing She was building.
“I…. it something that familiar to me. Something that can be fixed and made a new. Not sure exactly what she will end up to be, but she is running….” the boyish female became rather excited. “On a fraction of cerulean power. From what I've been informed that these machines take a greater amount to operate, so the concept of making things more efficient….”
Shaking her head she turned and looked at her visitor.
“Sorry, I don't get many visitors. They hear I was found in the Ilsabard area, they tend to shy away, so someone asking questions seem to stir me.”
[R'asha]
R’asha has opened her mouth to start but slowly closed it as gauge went on. Simply nodding a few times.
“I see…Well, I suppose that is true with the Empire being no more…Would make sense to start seeing more and more of their tech becoming normal.”
Watching gauge with cautious curiosity.
“Is that why you wondered all the way this way? You sound like you don’t have much memory yourself.”
[Gauge]
Gauges short hair flipped around her head as she shook her head.
“No memory prior to waking up. Went cold reaches, to the shroud, then to here. Kind blend in here.”
“So, uh miss, are you looking for parts, or something running? Know you said more curious, but we are all looking for something out there.”
[R'asha]
R’asha paused for a moment. Tapping her chin in thought.
“Let me ask you a question. In theory. How well would you be able to implement bodily magitech upgrades? Like to ones internal organs and muscle tissue?”
[Gauge]
Gauge's gears turned in her head as she processed what R'asha said.
“I do not believe I've had the liberty of working with that type of machinery since waking up. I would need to see one for myself to see of it jogs any memories, or that liking… IF something like that was to exist… that would be a marvelous feat in its self.”
[R'asha]
R'asha sort of scratched at her chin.“Hmm, I see. Just something I've been curious about. First time talking to someone that knows their way around magitech…over fighting them.”
She said with a sort of awkward chuckle.
“Why not return to Garlemald? Besides the fact it is in shambles now…”
[Gauge]
“I plan to, I'm sure it will jog some memories. Regardless, I am not of garlean blood, but I know the answer I seek are in Garlemald and Ilsabard.”
She moved back over to the make shift counter, grabbing a note to doodle the cat girl. Scribbling organic magictech/hybrid life n machine. Cute Cat Girl.
“I struggle with some shorter memory issues if it is newer to me, people too. Means of association. Uhhh can i get a name too? Mine… well what I know is Gauge.”
Mear the door was a couple other little notes. Airship pilot with an epic curly mustache. A few other ishgardians, a healer from the shroud.
“Mayhaps… if I plan to visit.. or pillage a castrum, I could use a hand… some cool stuff like enhancements could be found there.”
[R'asha]
R’asha flicked her chin abit with her index finger. Her ears cocking from one side to the other in thought. Shrugging eventually as the thought of her sister diving for garlean tech crossed her mind. Perhaps she could help.
“R’asha.” She said simple as she quick her a brow at the doodling of a mecha cat so to speak.
[Gauge]
Scribbling quickly, at an attempt at writing the name, then pinning the paper to the board.
“Interest request none else, but sure there some tech out there like that. Just a matter of finding it… have you been working with the more organic magictech type material?”
[R'asha]
R'asha scratched at her chin abit.“Well. Yes. you could say that. I have a rather complicated relationship with Magitech that deals with more organic properties.”
She looked about the room some as she spoke taking in the mechanical nature of their workshop, Seeming to be curious but also slightly cautious of the tech.
[Gauge]
“That fascinating. Maybe one day we can compare notes in the technology.”
Gauge did not trouble herself with saying anything as the Miqo'te examined the contents of her makeshift shop.
A camera of an eye in the creature like tech that was in the center began to follow R'asha around. It made a similar to a cooing sound.
Behind the mess of construct was different parts pulled apart, some welded together. Some were complete a mystery, other parts looked like limbs information to the size of the construct.
[R'asha]
R'asha chuckled abit.“Ya…I could also just show you someday. It was during my stay in Gyr Abania. Though if your memory has failed you. Perhaps you are not familiar with what occurred there?”
R'asha did her best to pay the eye no mind. Though it's presence did make her feel slightly less easy.
[Gauge]
She looked up, tapping a pen to her chin.
“No, I do not even know what this Gyr Abania place is…” She pressed a hand to her temple saying the words. Her head hurt as some flashes of memories returned to her.
“Desert… a lot of desert…” Shaking it off.
The ai with in the machine watching R'asha cooed more. It woooed in excitement. There was a small amount of wiggle from it. The wiggle caused the chains to racket in its attempt.
[R'asha]
R’asha physically started abit at the A.I. started to wriggle about in its chain.
“Yes…Gyr Abania is known to be quite humid. Desert is a word for it.”
Shaking her unease at the magitech reacting to her reacting to it. She’d find herself someplace between the desk and door. Pausing as she pondered abit.
“What are your normal hours? I could…Be talked into coming around and showing you where I encountered this tech, should you be interested.”
[Gauge]
“Hours?” … Guage looked around.
“It's a come and go, I don't have hours for say since I live here too.”
The AI made a sad woo sound and looked like it slumped over.
“Sorry… it programing has some replication of emotions. She gets attached to new comers and sad when they leave. She seems to to be programmed everyone is a friend. Hence why I was working ok her prior to you stopping in.”
[R'asha]
R'asha gave a slightly nervous chuckle at that.
“I see…So it's friendly at least…”
Nodding a few times.
“I suppose that makes sense…I am used to how my younger sister runs things. Always working…So her hours are always.”
Chuckling abit more at this. “I can leave you to your work. I will be sure to stop by when I plan to head out in the direction of that place I spoke off earlier.”
[Gauge]
“Sure, just come find me when you head out!”
Gauge went back to cleaning up around the desk.
[R'asha]
R'asha nodded. “Of course, I will be sure to pick you up when I next visit a place involved with such tech.”
And with that R'asha would let herself out. Waving one last goodbye before she closed the door and pondered what they talked about as she left the complex proper.
[Gauge]
Gauge waved. With a sigh, she rubbed her throbbing head.
Too much interaction?
The AI made a series of sad beeps and woos as the visitor left.
