To Teach of Aspects - 12/10/20
[R'Lamiza]
R'lamiza waited for Blue outside. Looking cross but at nothing in particular.
[Blue]
Blue comes into view, blinking over at her friend and furrowing her brows. She walks over to Lami gingerly. “Is everything okay..?”
[R'Lamiza]
R'lamiza sighed pushing up from the post. “It's nothin' really. Just annoyed we might get drawn inta this shite. Was the last thin' I wanted ya involved in. But here we are. Also, We can't leave yet. I fergot there is sumthin' I need ta ta learn…” She pulled out a crystal. “Time fer yer first offical lesson. Ya ready?”
[Blue]
Blue frowns, concerned. “It's okay. Nothing's happened yet!” She smiles cheerfully. “Maybe it'll pass us over entirely, you never know.” Her eyes alight on the crystal she pulls out, tail giving a little wave before the girl clasps her hands together. “Teleporting!!!!”
[R'Lamiza]
R'lamiza nodded with a grin. “Yes. But first, We have ta see if ya can channel yer aether sufficently. Let's head ta a quieter spot.” She said leading Blue away from the inn.
R'lamiza handed the crystal over. “Alright, Can ya tell me ta what aspect this Crystal belon's ta?”
(Blue) Random! (1-20) 5 |
Blue Could make faint traces of a volitile element. But as far as what it could be might be beyond her reach currently. Lami looks with a quirked brow.“So?”
[Blue]
Blue examines the crystal curiously in her palm, bi-colored eyes inspecting the pretty thing. “hmmm….Lightning?” The girl completely guesses.
[R'Lamiza]
R'lamiza blinked a few times. “Y-Yes actually…Seems ya have been trainin' well…” She pulls out another crystal. “Alright. This one?”
[Blue]
Blue passes Lami the lightning crystal in favor of the next, ears giving a flick. She closes her eyes and tries to feel for anything…but ultimately guesses again. “…Fire?” At the very least the Xaela knew her elements?
[R'Lamiza]
Lami let her jaw drop. “Okay. I am changin' this up. Yer either doin' really well and should be a mage er sum shite er ya got the luck of sum devil on yer side.” Rummaging through her bag. “Alright. THIS ONE.” She said holding out another crystal.
[Blue]
Blue looked positively pleased she was doing so well, but the look of surprise on her face betrayed the fact that the Xaela was good at guessing. She rubs her wrist sheepishly. “I'll try harder with this one, promise!” She trades the crystal for the latest one now, and tries to concentrate once again.
Blue opens her eyes and stares oddly at the crystal. “This one kinda feels different from the other two…” She brings it up to eye level, tapping at it gently with the tips of her fingertips. She tilts her head. Had she worked on a similar crystal before? “..Water?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami clicked her tongue. “Close. But not quite.” She slips the crystal into her pouch.“We will try that one again.” Pulling out another crystal. “Alright. Try this one.”
[Blue]
Blue takes the crystal and tilts her head. This time she simply presses it against her forehead as if that might help her sense something easier. It's faint but not nearly as volatile an energy, whatever it might be. The girl taps it against her head once, twice, before suggesting, “Earth?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded. “Good. Good.” She took the crystal from her and grab another. “Ya got ta more. Before I ask ya ta try again fer the one ya missed.” She held out two stones. One in her left hand. The other in her right. “Choose.” She said simply.
[Blue]
Blue hums a bit before pointing to Lami's right hand. “That one!”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami extended her right hand. “Alright. Tell me if ya can tell what this one is!” She said with a sly smirk on her face. “Ya might pass this with almost flyin' colors.”
[Blue]
Blue took the crystal in her hands and immediately felt a chill run up her spine. She blinked and peered at the crystal curiously for a moment “Just on how it feels, I think it should be ice.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami Nodded. “Aye. Right ya are.” She pulled out the crystal she missed. “I lied. There are three.” She said with an awkward chuckle, She held two in one hand and lone crystal in the other. “Alright. This one, and then the last ta. Yer doin' well. I think ya might be ready ta take on the idea of teleportin'. Er sumthin' ta that effect.”
[Blue]
Blue was not having nearly as much confidence as Lami was with the possibility of teleporting, considering two of her answers had been pure guesswork and while she felt energy emitting off the crystals, sometimes it was just hard to differentiate them from each other. Still, the Xaela was a willing learner, and she pointed to the lone crystal before taking it off Lami's hands. “Might just be the idea,” She teases, though she hopes that's not the case before focusing on the little crystal in her hand proper.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami hands her the crystal. “Alright. Take yer time with it. No need fer us ta rush through.”
[Blue]
Blue felt this crystal all the way down to her core. How could I mistake this feeling for that other crystal, she thinks to herself as she stares at it from within the palm of her hand. It was the rhythm more than anything else, the sensation of something crashing in hearty waves against it, back and forth and over again before settling back into a gentle murmurs. The Xaela squeezes it gently before smiling brightly. “Now this one is water for sure.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded “Well then. Correct. Ya not doin’ half bad.” Sliding that one into her pouch she pulled out the last two. “Alrighty then, ya last ta fer this part of me lesson. Pick one.“ The crystals both looked the same but both have off an odd polarizing difference in energy even before blue touched them.
[Blue]
Blue nodded to Lami and selected the right-most crystal, already sensing the strange energies bouncing off the two of them though she couldn't really explain the effect herself. She brings the crystal to her scaly-cheek this time and closes her eyes briefly. “Oh…this is the one from before that I got wrong. Feels warm…like it should be fire, but that can't be. This feels…nicer and not raging. Like soaking up sunshine.” In spite of her explanation it was clear that the Au Ra was perplexed, drawing it from her face and looking back at Lami for answers.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami chuckled and held out her last pair. “I… suck at teachin’ magic.” She handed her one. “Since ya failed it twice I’ll tell ya after these last ta.” Giving her the one in her right hand. “Alright. What’s this one?”
[Blue]
Blue stares at Lami for a long moment, smiling and teasing, “Did another crystal randomly appear? I thought there were only two left the last time.”
She takes up the crystal with interest and stares down at it in surprise. It felt sporadic, contained within the tiny vessel, yet strong and fierce.
“..Is this wind?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami just casually whistles.“Oh you know… two… three it’s the same thing right….?” She then quickly nodded“Yes! That it is!” Snatching it away and handing her the last one.“ This one!” She said trying to distract Blue from her mistake
[Blue]
Blue blinked at Lami as the crystal was snatched away and quickly replaced with something entirely different. The Xaela frowns down at it, uncertain. It felt heavy and weighted, yet cold on the edges of her fingertips as she lifted it up to her cheek- and just as promptly pulled it away. She looked at it strangely. I've felt something similar… “I…don't know what this is either.” Blue sulked and passed it back to the feline.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami smiled. “Well. That's not ta surprisin'. The ta crystals ya missed, Where Light.” She held up the crystal Blue had just returned. “And Darkness. Which by themselves arn't technically elements but polarization of the previous Elements…If that make sense?” She said tapping her cheek in thought. “This is why Thamaturgy was never me thin'…Not that it could've been anyways but no matter.”
[Blue]
Blue flicks her ears and attempts to understand at least as she brings a finger up to her chin in thought. “It…sorta makes sense…but not really.” She admits, before continuing and pointing to the light crystal. “So if they aren't really elements then what are they? Where do you find them?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami tapped her chin. “So think of…water fer example…It's steady, And almost unmovin'. In that sense is Umbral, So it tends ta considered a darker element. But not Darkness itself. While I suppose Darkness IS usable, How ya'd go 'bout it is beyond me.”
[Blue]
“So then they're kinda more special than the other crystals. And if water is a darker element then what are the other dark ones? What elements make up light?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami held up three fingers. “Water, Ice, And Earth make up the Darker Elements. While Wind, Lightnin' and Fire make up the Lighter Elements.” Folding her arms over her chest she'd start to make her way out of the small courtyard the two had found themselves in. “Now then. Does that make any more sense?” Not exactly waiting for Blue to start following.
[Blue]
Blue whispers out the elements and holds out her own fingers as she listens, gentle little “Water, then ice, earth too, they're super dark. N' then wind, lightning, and- hey” She looks up to find Lami strutting off and chases after her as she nods. “A lil more sense, just gotta memorize it!”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded. “They are also known as Umbral, Darkness. And Astral, Light. But that's if yer plannin' on becomin' sum sorta mage. Either way, Ya got a sense fer all the elements and their respective polls. Yer gonna need that ta tap inta the stream that is Aetherical teleportation.”
[Blue]
Blue nods her head and looks around at the courtyard briefly. “I've heard of the stream before. Is it invisible?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded. “Ta the naked eye sure. But I've heard those brainiac's from Sharlyan? Have these thin's that let ya see em. But they are weirdo's that like their books ta much. “Recalling a particualr individual made her skin crawl. “Anyways. Now we are gonna see how well ya can attune ta that big bastard in the center of the city.” Walking down a fairly populated street. Which might have been unlike her usual back alley shortcuts.
[Blue]
Blue tilts her head, a brief flicker of recognition on her face when Sharylan was brought up. “I think Tret brought them up once, how they know a lot of things about..well everything! No surprise they'd find a way to see it.” She makes sure to keep close to the miquo'te as they wander down a busier path, looking around at all the folks with interest. “Hum..you dun think those guys watching us before the other day are still around?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami just nodded.”I would put money on the fact they are.” She said as the continued walking. “Why do ya think I picked the courtyard just outside the guardhouse ta teach ya that small bit?” Weaving through the crowd.“We are gonna have ta play it smart if we don't wanna end up in a fight. While normally I'd say let em come but not here. I rely on trade from this city far ta much ta go fuckin' that up.” Arriving in the large courtyard that contained the large Aytherite. She turned to Blue.“Alright. Remember how ya felt out fer those crystals earlier? I want ya ta do that, But also throw in yerself. It's why I asked ya ta try ta channel Aether inta them crystals a gave ya back home.” She said simply.
[Blue]
Blue followed after Lami, listening to her words before she found her attention drawn to the giant aetherite in the center of the plaza. Her face immediately brightens. “Ah yeah these big crystals are everywhere, even in Bentbranch! I poked at it plenty enough back home.” She grins to herself before looking back at her friend upon hearing her instructions. Her smile fades a bit, and she looks uncertain.
“That was a real small crystal though…but I'll try.”
The Xaela walks closer to it and closes her eyes, trying to focus on extending herself out to the crystal.
It seems as if Blue had been practicing properly back home after all, for she felt something strange occur, as if her entire being had been drawn into the crystal for but the briefest moment before being returned. Her eyes were wide with fascination as the attunement completes, looking down at herself as if making sure everything was in the right place.
“That feels..so strange..” Strange, yet familiar…
[R'Lamiza]
Lami smiled. “So, how ya feel? Nice and attuned ta it?” She’d walk up to Blue. “If so, we gotta do that at one more spot…“ she’d say waiting for Blue’s answer before taking off again.
[Blue]
Blue looks down at her hands once more before she looks up and beams at Lami. “I think so! Didn't you say something about you don't know how to teleport yourself?” she questions before following after the miquo'te eagerly.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami flinched abit. “No… I can… it’s just very dangerous fer me. I have practically no freely available aether.”
[Blue]
Blue stops briefly and frowns. “How did that happen?”
[R'Lamiza]
“I was born.” She said simply.“Sum of us ain’t so lucky with the whole aether business…. which lead ta a lot of…choices ta help with that.”
[Blue]
Blue purses her lips. “I still don't understand, isn't everyone made of aether here anyways?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami nodded but gave her an odd glance “Yes… that was a weird way ta word that… but anyways. I have enough to love but not enough ta cast magic. Seems magic comes from the extra aether outside of the stuff that makes us who we are…” as they arrived at the bazaar there was a small crystal. “Alright. Do the same with this one.“
[Blue]
Blue still looked at Lami quizzically but says nothing.
I don't understand. It makes sense when someone like Tret doesn't have much aether around him. We talked enough about that before. But I really thought everybody else to just be overflowing with the stuff.. |
She stirred when Lami spoke up again, eyes refocusing on the miquo'te before looking to the smaller crystal before them. “Okay, no problem!”
Blue drew near and raised her hand again to the smaller aetherite, focusing once more on that strange sensation resonating throughout her body for the briefest moment until it let her go.
`And I don't really have any issues with aether myself. Well, not anymore anyway..`
“So what's the difference with the smaller crystal?”
[R'Lamiza]
“This one lets ya teleport ‘round the city proper and its a safe close bet ta make sure ya got the idea of it. Now that yer attuned. Try ta reach out and sort of… feel fer the spot ya just where at the large aytherite.”
[Blue]
Blue looks at the small aetherite briefly, zoning out during Lami's instruction. What first attempts the Xaela makes are little more than specks on the aether spectrum.
“…”
“…”
“I'm sorry, can you repeat that?”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami laughed “Reach out ta the crystal. But instead try ta put her whole bein’ inta it. Think of the place ya wish ta go, which is the only place ya’ve attuned ta that I know. Which should be that large crystal in the center of the city.”
[Blue]
Blue nods with a determined little look on her face. She was gonna get it this time- or so she hoped at least. The Xaela squirms uneasily in place for but a moment before she focuses once more, hand outstretched and reaching for the smaller aetherite as her mind settles and focuses on pushing past the limitation of physical form.
In truth, the experience wasn't that much different from the way that Blue changed form- just with the goal of being somewhere else rather than creating a new vessel for what constituted her essence. It was with that in mind that the the xaela felt out for the larger crystal she had attuned to minutes before, her mind focusing on that which made it whole.
There wouldn't be too much surprise from Blue when her body began to break down, and through she still couldn't see what invisible streams linked one aetheryte to another, she could feel herself herself mentally guiding the particles to the destination she wanted it to go - to the larger crystal. A strange yellow thread could be seen swathed around the last remnants of her aether before it too disappeared into the stream.
In a matter of seconds, Blue would reconfigure herself once more into the Xaela she was, bright eyes blinking up at the larger aetheryte before she felt herself all over, making sure everything was in its place.
[R'Lamiza]
Lami appeared directly behind her. But the moment her feet hit the group. She’d fall to one of her knees coughing a few times. A few seconds passed before she stood up and brushed herself off. “Well done! Seems ya will be able to move ‘round the place quickly if ya have the need. Oh. One last thin’ I fergot ta mention. When ya use these thin’s ta move ‘bout outside this internal web ya will find yerself abit lighter on coin then ya where before. So keep that in mind.”
[Blue]
Blue crouches down, a look of concern on her face while the miquo'te coughed and sputtered. “You didn't have to do that, silly, you coulda just ran back here! If it hurts don't do it!” There the Xaela was, chastising her teacher.
“Oh…what, they magically take some gil? …Makes sense, I bet there are a bunch of rich folk out there from teleports alone!” Blue wouldn't focus too much on that aspect however, clearly elated that she learned how to teleport proper and didn't go missing any body parts in the process.
She suddenly frowns.
“But wait..do I need to attune to every crystal out there in order to use it? Cause I don't think I did any of that out west..”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami simply shrugged. “I can handle abit of it. Anymore though I’ll be askin’ fer trouble…. and I had hoped ya’d perhaps… poked one er ta. Could always ask… ummm… well if Eligor is still in the area he might be able ta help. A trip like that would probably kill me if I had a plus one…“
[Blue]
Blue cocked her head and thought a moment. “Well..nobody told me to before we left…not like I didn't notice the giant crystals everywhere and random people popping up out of nowhere if you watch long enough. I talked to the crystal, but I don't think that's the same as what I just did.” She sulks a bit, flicking an ear at the mention of Eligor. “Maybe…I just need attune to the one in Bentbranch. Anywhere else can wait. He might be a bit too busy looking for spies right now though.”
[R'Lamiza]
Lami shot her a look. “Well, The worst he can do is say no. I doubt he'll say yes but hey. Ya never know.” She said as she strode away from the crystal.”Alright. Now that yer done with that bit. We are gettin' the fuck outta this place. The ships ready to head fer the red sea. We can shop before we head back home.“ Heading towards the docks with due haste.
[Blue]
“Wait Lami!” Blue calls out, making a mad little scramble to block her friend's purposeful path to the docks. She brings her hands together in a begging motion.
“We haven't even been here that long….I know it's more dangerous and all, but can't we stay at least one more night?” Her tail gives an eager wag.
“I wanted to have at least one night where we could eat a meal together instead of you drinking a bunch and somehow making it back to the hostelry super late.”
Her eyes were big and pitiful, quite the master as far as pleading looks were concerned.
“We can leave bright and early in the morning, promise! Pleaaaase?”
[R'Lamiza]
lami scowled at her. “Fine.” she said simply. “But no doin' anythin' reckless, Got it?” seeming to not enjoy the idea of staying another night. “And we sleep on the ship. I cancelled the stay already 'efore we left.”
[Blue]
Blue emits a little whine in protest but nods reluctantly. “Okay….”
“And I'm not really reckless, I don't think you have anything to worry about.” The Xaela proceeds to brighten once more and grabs for Lami's hand to tug her along and away from the dock before she could change her mind.
(And then #the-weight-of-a-dream happens and Blue does a reckless thing!) |
