09/01/21 - Crumble and Fall

[Eligor]

Eligor appeared suddenly in his backstage room in the Sanctuary. The singing that was near-constant outside past the stage was greatly muted back here.

He took off his torn cloak covered with dried fluids and threw it on the floor, turning on a dim light. His left arm was still completely covered in filthy bandages, and glowing horns still protruded from his forehead like sharp lights.

Changing into a simple top and pants he planned to use for baptisms, he just sort of….plopped onto the floor, leaning against the bed there.

He did his best to keep his aether hidden back here to prevent panic, but he couldn't will himself to leave completely.

[Onini]

It was moments afterwards before the air behind him began to warp, the form of the Gilded Mage gently plopping onto the bed. As she want to do, her arms were adorn with golden bangles that gently clinged against one another as her hands reached forth. White cloth crossed over in an X over her chest, stitched upon a golden neckwrap while her legs were drapped with a long white skirt. Locks of silken ebony tumbled past her shoulders, and gleaming icy orbs gazed down at her other from under dark lashes.

With clawed digits did she gently traced along the outline of his jaw before her arms coiled around his neck.

Adoringly, her words slipped from her lips like honey, “You smell of filth, my love.”

How doting she was.

[Eligor]

“…Not surprised.”

He did not bother moving away, but he did tense up a bit.

“I know I shouldn’t be here. I’m still a danger, but…”

He looked at his discarded cloak on the floor.

“…I’m tired. Very tired.”

[Onini]

Her lids fell shut giving a delicate hum as if relishing his presence; however upon feeling him tense up, those eyes slowly opened and stared forth into the dark.

“Has it been difficult? I cannot presume to know what it is you must be going through? I'm afraid I am a touch out of the loop.”

[Eligor]

“A shortened version would be that getting rid of the thing that has been destroying my people for generations is—unsurprisingly—beyond my ability to do.”

He lifted his arm, aether circling around his fingertips before popping fading away.

“I’ve been getting stronger, so the plan was to perish with it together. Eventually my flesh won’t be able to keep up. But it’s looking unlikely.”

“And now I'm putting everyone in danger. I know it. Not feeling anything keeps me in control. It's just….”

Aether began to boil over but he pushed it back down.

“I’m tired of making my children cry. Tired of people dying because of me. Tired of having to be the one that people come to kill. Tired of not being able to see you. Tired of having to make plans on plans and working without ceasing. Tired of having to be proven wrong or right or needing to be either in the first place. Tired of hurting what I care about for any reason. I'm just….so tired.”

He leans back, still tense.

“When I thought of all that, I couldn't help myself. I wanted you to pamper me like a spoiled child and ended up here.”

[Onini]

The Mage listened, though with how softly she hummed staring into the abyss, one might think otherwise.

When all was said and done, she placed a small kiss upon his cheek, while a hand raised and caressed his other one. She could feel how tumultuous his very soul was, and t'was one of the rare moments in which she felt pity.

“Aww, my loveling wishes to be spoiled… It is hard to refuse such an earnest wish. Shall I provide sweet whispers? Or perhaps doting affection?” Her other hand raised to gently brush her fingers along the gemstone upon his forehead.

There was a pause, and she tilted her head, “Is there aught I can do?”

[Eligor]

“You haven't left yet despite the danger I represent, that's doing plenty. I could always ask for plenty more but I don't think we have days to kill indulging ourselves this time.”

He chuckled a bit bitterly.

“To think I asked for more children when I can't take care of the ones already here. I know I'm complaining and should be stronger. Just let me be here for a while.”

He paused for a bit, surprised he was still clearly in control until a thought occurred.

“You know, my passenger seems to know you. Or a version of you rather. Has been clawing at me, toying with everything just to get to you. I think I'm understanding a little of what it meant before. I came here as if it were natural because Raziel came to me crying. I couldn't not feel anything. I tried.”

[Onini]

“I cannot say I have been the stellar parent myself, so I would not judge yourself too harshly, loveling.”

His words managed to pique her curiosity, her eyes finally flitting down towards him as her long ears seemed to perk a touch. “A version of me? To what do I owe the infatuation?”

[Eligor]

“If it's correct, I am just a much smaller part of it. In turn, you're a smaller part of a lost lover. Too romantic and fantastical for my taste, but if I were to take it seriously I can admit to a number of interesting coincidences.”

He sighed, finally relaxing a bit.

“It doesn't feel like I'm sinking into some bottomless pit around you.”

[Onini]

A dark brow quirked curiously, her claws idly tracing over the gemstone whilst she pondered upon his words, “I see.” She softly drawled, staring off into the distance.

Though his next remark broke through her swirling thoughts, looking back down to him and one side of her lips tugging up, “Is that so~?” She would nip upon his ear playfully, chuckling before her arms coiled around his neck once more.

“You have strange taste in company, considering I am touched in the head.”

[Eligor]

He shrugged a bit and began picking at his bandages.

“I’ve been around the alternative company and it lacks…everything.”

He seemed to be uncomfortable with his increasingly soft words, shifting a bit and clearing his throat.

“Having a perfect body helps too I suppose. No need to think of leaving at all when I can just look at you and feel better.”

[Onini]

There was nary a moment in which she lavished in the praises and compliment of others, which in turn usually aided in the inflation of her ego. T'was difficulty being a queen after all. However upon hearing Eligor's, she could not help but raise her brows, as if taken aback.

With a glance to one side, she felt her cheeks warm, a soft clear of her throat given, “Since when did you become such a charmer…” She murmured, before her lids fall shut and she chuckles.

[Eligor]

“My near future is supposed to be death. No point holding things in around you at least.”

He stood up and turned around, placing his hands on Onini’s shoulders.

“I want to be around you all the time. I want to read my children bed time stories and cook breakfast. I want to just do nothing for a day and not feel strange about it. I want a son I can whom I can complain to about the weird things you women do sometimes! I want to go to sleep and wake up without worrying if you are still there, or if anyone I know died. I want to make my family happy without having to not be a part of it, and…”

He sighed, slumping a bit.

“…Sorry about that.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath.

“If you want I’ll go take a shower. Not like I came here to offend your nose.”

[Onini]

Onini blinked upon feeling his hands upon her shoulders, looking upon him rather blankly for a moment.

“From the sound of it, it would seem you wish for normalcy.”

The Mage regarded him silently, and for once she seemed to not know what to say, or of how she may be able to help.

“While it is true, I was teasing all the same.” A digit raised, tapping a claw against her lips before she heaved a soft sigh, “I will admit, I am a bit at a loss.”

[Eligor]

“I think normal is what is the usual for you. In that way what I want is strange indeed.”

He stopped for a moment.

“Why are you at a loss?”

[Onini]

“Well given The past couple of years, I would say we are far from normal…” She remarked, her icy gaze glancing to one side in thought, lips pressed thinly.

However her attention drew back, a quizzical look about her, “Because I am uncertain how I can help or aid you.”

“It is not as if we can simply abandon everything and live reclusive lives within the mountains…” She paused, her eyes falling more heavily over her blue hues, “Or perhaps a small island of our own.”

[Eligor]

“We could…”

He stopped.

“But that is not what I meant. Besides this Sanctuary is our island. It just happens to be full of people worshipping you and our daughter.”

He removes his hands from her shoulders and sits next to her.

“I was just being weak and complaining about what I don’t have. This is why my teacher told me I wasn’t greedy enough. If I cannot take what I want from the world I simply need to grow strong enough to take it. If the world can’t stop us who is to say I can’t have everything I wanted?”

He gives a smile and stares off into the distance.

“Sorry, it wasn’t fair for me to put all of that on you when you have to deal with everything here. I suppose if I survive Novine’s plan, I’ll have to make it up to you.”

He leaned into her, nudging a bit.

“Tell me what you desire.”

[Onini]

The Mage gave a delicate grunt to his remark of the island, nodding, “Yes, yes, you've a point there.”

Those icy blue hues glanced towards him as he seated himself by her, canting her head to one side while her hands laid upon her lap. “Tis true, for the world will simply keep on turning without nary a concern for such poor souls unable to keep up. As for fairness, it is of little consequence. It is the very least I can do.” She stated plainly, lids falling shut.

However she soon felt his weight upon her, and soon a soft nudge, prompting her to crack her eyes open and regarding him silently. The only indication that she had heard his words was a quirk of her dark brow, and tearing her eyes away. It was her turn to stare off with nary a word, and then her lips parted, “I… am not certain. I suppose like you, some sort of normalcy, and yet I am terribly… bored.”

“Perhaps an orgy to lighten things up.” She quipped, a cheshire like grin curling upon her lips, snickering. She thought she was so cute, apparently.

[Eligor]

“Well as long as Raziel doesn’t find out I suppose have at it.”

He stood up, straightening his robes a bit.

“As for me, I should try that shower. I should at least smell nice when they come for me.”

[Onini]

Onini blinked for a moment, clearly taken aback, “Truly? I had no idea that you'd actually approve of such a thing.”

Her form leaned back against her haunches, lids falling shut before they opened once more to regard him as he stood, “When who comes for you again?”

[Eligor]

“Approve is an incredibly strong a word for it. If it makes you happy then refusing is mostly my ego. If I take myself out of that equation then there's no reason to refuse.”

He stretched a bit in place.

“Im speaking of Novine. She won't be coming alone if she wants to succeed and smelling like death and dead skin might be a tad bit distracting.”

[Onini]

“Mm, duly noted then.” She muttered thoughtfully, canting her head gently to one side once more. Those icy hues stared forth for a long moment and then glanced to one side, “Perhaps… I should try and visit at some point. Though I am far from an ideal mother figure, I cannot help but wonder if they would be embarrassed of me, as much such wondering I feel would make one seem… frail.”

[Eligor]

“I think she would like that. Whether intentional or not she emulates you.”

[Onini]

“Novine?” She canted her head, a brow quirking slightly.

[Eligor]

“Mhm. You’ve probably got a secret fan in her.”

[Onini]

The Mage blinked for a moment, clearly in disbelief before she glanced to one side. One could spy the subtle tinge of crimson rising upon her sunkissed cheeks, as well a a hint of confusion. “I see…” She muttered.

Her lids fell shut, silent, and turned towards him after a moment, “Well then, I will consider visiting sometime soon. But alas, I will allow you to bathe. If you wish I could wait for you to finish, unless you had other matters to attend to? Or even join you?”

[Eligor]

“If you join me, the Sanctuary will be missing their holy mother for at least a week, and everything else will fall apart. No….no I’ll go by myself for now. But I’ll be coming back to claim that and more later. Sound like a good enough exchange?”

[Onini]

Onini gave a wry grin, batting her lashes at him, “Sound enough, yes. Don't keep me waiting long now~.” She wiggled her claws in a wave.

[Eligor]

He nods, walking off to shower before returning, pulling her into a quick kiss before departing, ready to face the next wall to his return.
