09/22/22 - Inexorable Executor
[Synechiae]
Not far from Fallgourd Float, the semblance of a scream sounds in the distance. It seems to come from deeper within the nearby forest but abruptly stops as soon as it has started, replaced once more with the lapping of waves against the support beams that keep the small village afloat. |
[Tressenne]
Tess walked outside of Fallgourd Float as she heard the scream. Her ear flickering just a bit under her helm. Looking in the direction of the scream she made haste towards the source. Knowing full well she was likely far too late.
[Synechiae]
The man, a hyur by all accounts, did not seem to be dead but he did not seem to be in a good state of mind either. His body continually seemed to be seizing up on itself, and he seemed intent upon ramming his head into the floor. Saliva and dirt caked his mouth as he mumbled jumbled prayers for mercy.||
Synechiae looked up as she heard Tess draw near, simply blinking at her and kicking her legs idly.
“Hi.”
[Tressenne]
Tess looked down at the man, And then to Syne, And then down again. “Hm…Yes, Hello.” She said simply as she took a few steps closer appraising the Hyur. “It seems he, Is having some issues…”
Eyeing Syne from under her helm she didn't make any motion for her weapon, Least not yet. “May I ask what…has become of this man? It seems you are rather used to such sights given how, unbothered you are by the scene.”
[Synechiae]
The duskwight wore a short white dress, but one side seemed to be in mild disarray. Two black leather straps along one bare thigh had been torn, which the girl seemed to absently be trying to tie back together again into a loose knot.
She shrugged her shoulders at the stranger's words.
“He touched me.”
[Tressenne]
Tess just rose a brow. “And that was enough to cause him to…Pray for mercy? That's quite the peculiar gift you have…”
She drew slightly closer, And removed her helm exposing her snow white hair to the sunshine that caught it.
“Is there a way to help him? Or is that just his fate now?”
[Synechiae]
Syne tucked her hair behind her ears, tilting her head as the woman removed her helmet and revealed herself to be a fellow Duskwight.
“I am not sure. Normally they run away. Or faint.” She peered back at the man writhing on the ground, saliva drooling out of his mouth as more gibberish was emitted.
“But the world is breaking and the colors are upset, so maybe it is different. If he knocks himself out, I can bring him somewhere..”
[Tressenne]
“I see…So these, colors, Are to blame for this man's alignment. Fascinating, Horrible in a sense, But interesting all the same…” She looked down and rose a brow. “Well, I am a healer…So I could perhaps offer him my help?”
She refrained from touching the Duskwight. “But perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. Would it be too much for you to explain these “Colors?”
[Synechiae]
“I do not know you. Are you kind?”
“You look ready for battle, so it is difficult to tell whether you would want to hurt me.”
[Tressenne]
Tess looks down at herself then up at Syne.”Hmmm. I would like to think I am. But I think if I claim to be you might not believe me. So, perhaps another time you could explain.“
Tapping her armored hip with her freehand. “I tend to be prepared always, Incase I need to defend someone in need. I travel the countryside helping those that need brawn or healing.” She chuckles lightly. “I'd like to pretend I am well known around here but I am one of many souls like me.”
[Synechiae]
“So you help people. That's nice.” The girl pushed away from the fence and it eroded away with little fanfare. She stared past Tressene, blinking at something over her shoulder before bright yellow eyes flickered back to the woman.
“I try to help people too.”
The man nearby had gone silent and stopping wriggling so. He was breathing, but the back of his head was bleeding heavily. |
”…You can probably heal him now if you would like.“
“But he is not kind.”
[Tressenne]
Tess knelt before the man, and paused before she would start to mend the man’s wounds. Noticing the fences sudden erosion peaked her interest even further.
“And, may I ask what he has done to earn the title of being, not mind, as you say?”
[Synechiae]
“He touched me.” The duskwight repeated, pulling at her white bangs.
“It wasn't wanted.”
”..Maybe I was not clear enough. I am not sure…but his touch felt wrong. Made more cracks. They were not happy.“
[Tressenne]
Tess paused before offering healing. “Hmm. Yes that is not kind. I would agree. Perhaps he was enchanted by your beauty. Which does still leave him at fault.”
Placing her hand to now offering him succor. “I will ask him what his intentions where. Should they be foul. He will be handled accordingly. Would giving him a proper punishment please them?”
Watching the man carefully. She was prepared to reapply the wound as necessary.
Syne would potentially feel something was off about the Elezen's healing. While it was effect. It felt like it was, wrong. As if offering him succor was in return being traded for something else. To who’s Benefit? That was the mystery.
[Synechiae]
“I do not know what pleases them. They just are. They like when I'm happy though.”
The younger elezen watched as the woman began to heal the man. If she noticed something off, she did not react as if it bothered her.
“It is important to forgive, isn't it?”
The man slowly seemed to be stirring, shallow breathes growing stronger, eyes beginning to wiggle behind closed eyelids. |
[Tressenne]
“Hm. Interesting.”
She said mostly to herself as the man began to show signs of awakening, she’d nod. “Forgiveness is considered virtuous. And it is important to a fault. However, I believe all actions of consequences and those who do unkind things should be punished properly as to learn and grow from their misdeeds. I believe there is a turn of phrase for it amongst the locals but it escapes me…but don’t worry, dear. I will not allow you to be touched again by this stranger.”
She looked up at Syne with a sincere smile.
[Synechiae]
“Okay.” Syne said simply, rubbing at her arm as she listened to the man slowly work himself back into consciousness.
The hyuran man whimpered as his eyes suddenly fluttered open. He stared blank-faced at Tressene and reached around her to rub at where his wound was currently healing. Saliva frothed over his mouth before he licked and swallowed, then spared a glance at Synechiae. A befuddled expression crossed his face before he shook his head once, twice, shuddering and patting down the ground wildly beside him. |
“A-ahh…Ahhh…I'm not…it didn't…” He brought his hand to his face and flexed his fingers in avid fascination. |
“I'm alive!” |
[Tressenne]
Tess nodded. Though the display of swallowing the frothing saliva was not one she enjoyed.
“Yes, so you are. With that being said. Tell me. Why does the look of my young associate here seem to bother you?”
She lifted herself away from the man enough to give him room to sit up on his own should he decide too, or be able too.
[Synechiae]
Syne stared blankly at the man.
The man blinked, then shook his head again as he sat up. He did not appear interested in looking at the duskwight girl again. |
“D-doesnt bother me. Not sure what happened. But if you don't mind, I will be on my-“ |
“You kept following me. You touched me. You saw.” |
“D-didn't see nothin' lass!” The man stammered. “And why do you dress like that if you don't want attention?” |
Syne frowned and looked down at herself.
“There is something wrong with the way I dress?”
[Tressenne]
Tess placed a hand on the mans shoulder. Her face was formed in a soft, almost motherly smile. He eyes however, looked like they might burn holes through the man’s very soul.
“Perhaps, we should learn to keep our hands to ourselves Hm? Perhaps, she likes that outfit and wants to wear it.”
The hand on his shoulder tightened its grip oh so slightly. “But what I most assuredly do know. Is it would be a shame if I have to have this conversation with you again. I do hate disobedience.”
The smile was still there but the purple hues of her eyes obtained a soft glow to them that was just visible to the in front of her.
[Synechiae]
The man looked about ready to say something else, the makings of a smirk appearing on his face before Tressene caught his attention. It was less what she spoke and more how she suddenly appeared to him that caused the hyur to cower. He was a coward, and meekly nodded in response. |
“I-I won't do it again, never again!” |
Syne tilted her head curiously, pulling at her hair and observing closely.
[Tressenne]
Tess loosened her grip on the man’s shoulder. “Good, good! I am glad to hear it.”
Giving him a light pat on the shoulder now. “Now run along. I’m sure you have things to be doing hm?”
The malicious glint in her eye vanished as her smile seemed genuine, like a switch had been flipped and her malice vanished like it may have been imagined to begin with
[Synechiae]
Looking a fair bit dazed from the suddenly unwanted attention of the two elezen in his midst, the man wasted little time in scrambling to his feet and getting out of dodge proper. While he didn't run, there was a hastening in each step and before long the Hyur would be gone from sight entirely. |
Syne tugged at her dress somewhat, gaze wandering from the retreating man back to the armored woman once more.
“Thank you.”
[Tressenne]
Tess stood up to her full height and looked at Syne with a small smile.
“He should be thanking me. Not you, but I appreciate the thanks none the less. Might I ask your name?”
She offers her a small formal bow “Tressenne Zeauvoux…But Tess is preferred. Much easier to say and less chance for error Hm?”
[Synechiae]
The duskwight bowed her head politely.
“I'm Synechiae.” She paused and swayed from side to side before adding, “But you can call me Syne. It's also easier to say.” She giggled.
[Tressenne]
Tess nodded. “It's a pleasure, Syne.” Taking a few strides towards the women. “So, What does bring you out this way? I must admit I did not know there where more of our people around here. I tend to see our brethren in the northern places of the world.”
[Synechiae]
“Walking and thinking. Watching sometimes.” The girl shrugged her shoulders.
“There are many residing in out of the way places in the Shroud still. They are not very welcoming. We are not them.” Syne tucked her hair behind her ears.
“I'm also not from around here. I was once. Maybe I am again. I'm not sure.”
[Tressenne]
Tess rose a brow at Syne. “I see. Well it is a lovely place to walk. The animals around here, While some rather invasive to a peaceful walk, Are quite beautiful. The Gridanian people. Do pride themselves on living besides nature.”
She nodded slowly with an almost sad look in her eyes. “I see. I clearly have not run into any, besides you now, Previously. That is truly disheartening. But also unsurprising. Where are you walking to, Dear? Would you like a companion? Or shall I make my departure here. I will take no offense if you wish to walk alone. Solitude can be good for the mind.”
[Synechiae]
“I am done mourning, I think. I will head home. A distraction might be nice, if it isn't interrupting your duties.” The younger duskwight gave a shy smile before pointing in the direction of Central Shroud.
“Lavender Beds. Mercy Estate. They are nice there.” Syne would begin walking.
“Do you fight often?”
[Tressenne]
Tess patted her sword. “As little as I can manage. But I am so well equipped to protect those that cannot protect themselves. I prefer to mend wounds over inflicting then though.”
Pausing for a moment to look the girl over. “I am sorry to hear of your loss. Though I will not pry as we’ve only met.”
[Synechiae]
[Continuing in-game]]
The two duskwights proceed to traverse through Central Shroud on the way to the ferry docks leading to the Lavender Beds. Grateful for a more eloquent conversation partner, Syne talks to Tressene about a number of different topics ranging from Gelmorra to one's inner darkness. Before long, they arrive at their destination - if only to find that Tressene occupies an apartment close to the Estate where Synechiae resides. Farewells are given but likely not to be the last. |
