02/18/21 - The Diety Diamante

[Tretesta]

While not as popular as the ever full Quicksand, the Miners' Guild also sports a fully stocked bar for members and patrons to share drink after a hard days work. Certainly off the main strips and much quieter, there is rarely an empty evening in the hall of rock breakers.

While waiting for completion of a commission by the weavers, Tretesta had retired to the comparatively calmer guild for an afternoon of relaxation out of the sun. Even in his younger days, this would be much more preferred than the Quicksand or other inns to find a drink and bite to eat. He always preferred the more intimate locales for his unwinding times. Alone in his drinking and snack, he sat facing the main doors to the guild, watching to see if curiosity would attract the right prey. Hopefully Astra wouldn't waste much time coming into the city to see which of her three companions wanted her attention today.

[Astra]

Astra received the letter, with out hesitation and a keen connection between the pieces of the jewelry, she knew who it was from. Perhaps, her new found abilities gave her a bit of foresight?

Astra made the small commute between her house in the goblet through the tunnels that were just next to the Miners guild. Her attire rang as she walked with the chimes of the ornaments from her attire, and the swishing from the soft silks she wore. Done up in many pieces of jewelry, costume and real. Unlike normal, her hair was done in a lose braid, she walked up to Tret's table and dropped the letter in front of him.

“You do know my home is my place of business? The door is always unlocked during business hours.”

[Tretesta]

A few glances were cast towards the fortune teller as she entered, but none too long. There had been many an adventurer in and out of this hall wearing far less and turning in plenty of ore. Tret was the only one who kept an eye on her the whole time as she approached, drinking deep from his mug and then setting it down once confronted

“Had no idea, actually. You run a business? Wonderful! I'd have visited myself again, but I have a project working with the Weavers. And this seemed safer. Drink? Snack?”

[Astra]

“Depends on what you are looking for, my business is not for everyone.” She looked at the mug in hand, then toward the bar, and sighed, “I am here on business, and not leisure. You have summoned me, and I am here. Time is a valuable commodity.” She sat, crossing her arms.

[Tretesta]

“I suppose I did ask for you. Been a little bit since we've seen each other. But there's no shortage of time that I'm aware of…” He paused there, almost as if to torment her. He took the moment to have another swig of his drink and popped some crunchy substance into his mouth. Once his mouth was clear, he continued. “ I'm actually glad that you came out. Makes three of us accounted for. Did you leave before or after Rina?”

[Astra]

Astra leaned back, evaluating the game that Tret was playing, she did not seem to fidget or grow impatient with the man, but merely studying him. “I left before her, but I know she is fine, and was off doing her own thing. Venturing off trying to find her own piece that she misses, and make herself whole.”

(Assuming Astra had not checked up on her in recent events, or received the linkpearl yet.)

“Did you speak to her before she left on her adventure?”

[Tretesta]

“Got a letter telling me she was ok, that was it. But no news is good news, they say. You're actually the first one I've had a chance to actually talk to. Lucatiel hasn't been available, but Luna let me know she's doing fine.”

Tret relaxed in his seat, raising a hand to get the attention of the barkeep and signaling at his nearly empty mug. He gave a contented sigh and closed his eyes “Any luck finding out more about the little trickster?”

[Astra]

She shrugged, “I doubt calling her little was justice? So this is why you summoned me here? What does the scholar know? What do you want to know, surely you have questions.”

[Tretesta]

“Just? Nah. simply what I'm going to call her, lacking a better name. I asked you here for… Well, I just said. Wondering if you've learned anything new. Can't say I've talked to any scholars that know more, but I don't really know any either.”

[Astra]

Astra cleared her throat, “Perhaps my verbiage wrong, I meant she was not little.” She rubbed her chin, “I was able to translate some of the text, and I think I have a name, Tyce?”

[Tretesta]

“Tyce… Tyce… Nope. Nothing.” He sat up again about the time his drink was refilled, and he'd muse for a few moments over his beer. “…Have you taken your necklace off yet?”

[Astra]

“Does it appear that I am wearing it?” She gestured to the random necklaces that she had on, but not one with a shiny orb. She smiled, knowing that it was hidden beneath a glamour.

[Tretesta]

Tret stares evenly at the woman, then shrugs “No idea. I don't recall what it looked like when you took it. I'll say….. Yes. you are. Can you take it off?”

[Astra]

“I recall that they all look the same, in some similar fashion. Maybe you have not unlocked its true ability, and until you do that, you cannot take it off?”

[Tretesta]

“….Alright. You sure you don't want a drink? You seem to have far more time than you wanted me to believe. I've got the day if you do.”

[Astra]

“I do not drink. Was that all the questions you have for me?” She looked over the man taking in a more of common attire of a worker.

[Tretesta]

A quick once over of Tret would include his normal working clothes: boots, padded breeches, and tanktop with a thicker shirt wrapped around his waist. A flash of yellow from his familiar chocobo helmet hanging off his hip. His hands were mostly covered as well with half gloves, both adorned at the wrist with hempen bands.

But Tret's choice of fashion, or perhaps lack thereof, was a much less interesting than what he said next “…So, still under her control. Hello again little trickster. Tyce, I believe you called yourself. Come to test me again then?”

[Astra]

Astra gave him a rather bored look. “Talking like that people will think you drank too much.” She sighed, “Do you really think I would be under her control? She pretty much left a piece of herself with each of us, but to what extent?”

[Tretesta]

“I really do think that. Because it happened before. And you've decided to just not answer questions I have. I might hear her call here and there, but only one of the two of us was dominated, Astra.”

Tret sighs and waves a hand dismissively while her takes another drink, setting the mug back on the table “I have more questions, yes. But can you take yours off?”

[Astra]

“I choose to answer questions with riddles, why must I explain myself? Does it ever alarm you when someone continues down a path of questioning? As if they want to know if you hide more than what you merely seem to know?” Astra let out another sigh, and pulled the illusion spell off her neck revealing a black metal with a familiar looking orb. “I do not desire to take it off.”

[Tretesta]

Tret spreads his hands and smiles as she relents like a teenager to a parent “There we go! I know that was painful. But… Hm. You don't desire… But you couldn't remove it if you wanted to, could you?” He wiggles hand hands, shaking loose the two hempen bands to slide up each arm a short ways “Clever little thing. Without thinking I said it was too flashy. So it fixed itself. But… She won't let me take it off. Makes me uneasy really… I have a history with…things like this.”

[Astra]

“History of them in this world or …., if I recall correctly, she used the term Outsider?” Astra now had the questions.

[Tretesta]

“History with what I could call a 'Cursed' Item. Not the first thing I've been given that I just can't get rid of. At least this one isn't telling me to kill people. Yet. That's what bothers me. I've left it alone mostly… and its leaving me alone.” Tret give his hand another shake, watching the pair of bracelets, then drops them, using one to take his mug again “I wonder if she even knows what she wants…”

[Astra]

“Maybe she wanted to freedom?” Astra ran a finger over the orb. “I have not tried to remove it, I knew what it was before taking it, thus why I took it will full understanding. Based off my observations, and what I know now, she split the orb she used into 4, imbued them into something to compliment the user. Not entirely sure if she uses it as a means of sight for herself, of if it was a gift.” Pausing for a moment, “It feels that this is what she wanted, to use a group to set her free?”

[Tretesta]

“Like moss on a rock…Hm. Orb…. Then surely she is watching. She told me not to poke her eye, the orb. Huh. Hope she's enjoyed looking at chocobos for most of a day.” He chuckled softy and shook his head, then sat back again “I bet people would just love another god walking among them. They're received so well around here. Wonder if that means we are tempered. Or if we like… Get all the pieces together and put them on one person, if she'll take over that person entirely.”

[Astra]

“Were you tempered prior to your trip? Did you have faith to another? I feel you look at the negative aspects of such, have you the means to use aether?”

[Tretesta]

“I would guess no? Closest I ever got to a primal was seeing a lightning bolt from Ramuh in the shroud. I'm not a religious sort though, and I've never been able to do much with aether, no…”

[Astra]

“Do you feel tempered?” she rubbed her chin, “I know this sound easier than doing so, but try focusing your energy, your concentration on the items on your wrist.” Looking around, “Better yet, do not do that here, try it with in a private place.”

[Tretesta]

“No idea, what does it feel like?” Before she could tell him not to, Tret raised his off hand, looking at the simple bracelet intently. Meditation he could do. focusing attention on certain parts of himself as well. Like an imaginary ball of light moving through his body. He could picture it and feel a slight tingle as it moved through him. Down his shoulder, past his elbow, up his- He dropped the hand and shrugged when Astra bid him stop, taking another drink “We're surrounded by people that have been smashing rocks in the hot sun. I doubt anyone here cares enough about some random man looking at his hand too hard.”

[Astra]

“Well then help yourself to testing that theory. I find, it is a bit of an out of body experience for me. However from my before experiences, I feel more tethered doing this. I doubt yours will be the same. Maybe a bit of premonition? Oh! Would it not be amazing to be able to anticipate the moves of someone before they do it!”

[Tretesta]

“Yes. Maybe at home then. If I suddenly was possessed and started speaking in tongues, that might get some reaction. Mostly getting banned from this guild, and I'm just not ready to leave.” Tret's mug found a home for some time on the table, and he thought about her excitement for some time

“Amazing yes, But people tend to be predictable if you watch them long enough. we all have our routines. Our ahhhh… mannerisms? But I think as soon as you told someone what they would do, they'll make conscious effort to change it. Fate has a funny way of taking a left when you say it will turn right.”

[Astra]

Astra let out a bit of a giggle, “That is what makes reading fortunes so easy! Usually it the same snuffed monarch class that comes and sees me, Wealth, Relationship, same old same old. Only cards can bullshit so far into providing relationship advice, or how the should bid their money. I do enjoy giving the whole,” She used quotations with her fingers. “You may win greatly, or you may lose greatly. But if you do not try, then how will you have ever held the chance of a huge gamble.” She laughed, and snorted, “It gets them every time, then the come back, I lost my life savings. Granted I do feel bad for them, but it was their foolish desires to gamble to begin with. Dont come to me wanting numbers!” Her laughter died off, “There is a bit of reading to what I do, I can either scam others as the peddler over pay for their goods, or I could provide other services. I do, but those luxuries come at another price. As for our pieces of four, do not see it as a curse or a burden, I challenge you to see it as a gift. Try to use to it for your own good, your own gain. See what it does for you.” She smiled, “It might surprise you.”

[Tretesta]

A brow was quirked at the snort in her laugh. Well, that was something. Certainly full of herself. “I'll have to take your word for it. I've never had much interest in future telling. Like I said, soon as I know what will happen? It will just change.”

He held his hands up and gave it a wiggle, shaking loose the bracelet and watching it slide a short way up down his arm “I'll… Hold off judging. Completely. Little or not, she is still quite the trickster. Not very eager to answer questions. Maybe we'll have a chat and come to understanding. Or maybe I'll cut my arm off at the elbow and leave her in the dirt. How would you like that, Miss Tyce?”

[Astra]

She held out her hand, “Or you could just give it to me?”

[Tretesta]

“I could certainly do that. But you've gone on and on about the mystical powers this could offer me. That's a pretty tempting reason to hold.”

[Astra]

“I am curious what would happen to the wearer who wears more than one.” She pulled back her hand. “Probably would advise coming in contact with a second one.”

[Tretesta]

“Well, like I said… My current working theory is similar to what happened to you before. Possession.”

[Astra]

“As the Ishgardian say, 'Touché', I was under her control, and when I was, it was a mere sleeping moment. I can tell you, I have been void of those effects she left on me.”

[Tretesta]

“ahhh…. hm? Sure. I'll believe you for now about having your own control. But just my own theory. Give one person all four pieces, and she breaks free via that person. Maybe not. But unlimited power by knowing what others will do. Seems like enough reason someone would not give up a piece. You don't seem too eager to give up your bit, which tells me you know more than I do.”

[Astra]

She wiggled her finger, known it all like, “Or maybe, the test were to see if we were worthy of her gift, and one could not physical can not contain the amount of energy that the orb it self was in its raw form. We can theory this all day long, sadly none of us knows the exact answers, but we have been gifted something. Some may view a blessing as a curse, and others may view a curse as a blessing. It is entirely in the eye of the beholder. I may make foolish mistakes, but I am full of hope that these,”Touching the orb in its hardened gem like enclosure.“These are very much not a curse, and there is much good that can be done with them.” she furrowed her brows.

[Tretesta]

“A sword does not care who it hurts, because it is just a sword. The only safe sword is one locked away where none can hold it. You should be very careful with any gained power, if you do not understand it, Astra.”

[Astra]

“A sword is an extension of the wielder, and it cannot make decisions on its own. It does not grow legs to walk about and stab people. All means of tools we carry can be considered to be weapons. Your mug is a blunt object, and with contact toward the right spot could be a fatal blow. Just because you can leave your house, and die by a piece of falling object, does not prevent you from leaving your house. If you are that worried about what harm can be caused, you are better locked behind a door than to venture out.”

[Tretesta]

“You miss my point. A sword is not good or bad. It is a sword. There is good that could be done with them and evil. If it is locked away, you remove the chance of harm from that tool. Life is… life. Anything could happen. But there are things that can be controlled.” As if reminded he still had drink, he polishes off the remainder of the beer and slides the mug away from his own reach. Leaning forward, Tret stares level into Astra's face. “One that does not know how to use a sword should not swing it around carelessly.”

[Astra]

“Your point is the man that came with this.?”

Astra looked rather lost as far as what Tret was getting at.

[Tretesta]

“I….. what?” Tret sat back up, suddenly perplexed

[Astra]

“What?”

“I do not understand your reference. As someone who was Tribal related, a means of a sword came in many different uses.”

[Tretesta]

a blank stare, a blink, and then a shrug “A tool is not good or evil, Astra. It is a tool. a sword, these baubles… Just a tool. Good will not come from them. It will come from you possibly. But any tool can be misused, accidentally or on purpose.”

[Astra]

“What is your point of locking it away? If it is a tool, then it should be used. Punish the ones who use it for evil then. Dont take away the item for the greater good.”

[Tretesta]

“Locking it away is the only certain way to ensure it's not misused. Accidentally or on purpose. Would you punish a child who found their fathers sword and hurt their friend unintentionally? Or killed them even?”

[Astra]

'Train the child at an early age to properly use the item. Then no harm can come of it.“ With a sigh, “Tret, we see things differently on this.”

[Tretesta]

“We do. For someone that's lived as long as you claim, you still have the mind of a child. You will not be getting this bracelet from me. If it can be helped, you won't get the other two, either. Not right now at least.” He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in his seat once more “The greater good… I've yet to hear someone say that and agree with them.”

[Astra]

“You are the one who summoned me here, and asking questions regarding this you do not even begin to fathom. So Tretesta, did you wish to pry the necklace from my corpse?”

[Tretesta]

“I don't, no. I wasn't aware that was on the table? Should we be finishing this discussion out in the sand?”

[Astra]

She narrowed her eyes upon him, “I am done here, if you wish to conduct business with me, please do so during normal business hours. Do not contact me again regarding the prized treasures. Furthermore, I hope you enjoyed the riches our dear little deity provided you. Since you so badly needed it.” She got up and left.

[Tretesta]

Tret raised a brow again as he was scolded. He watched when she got up and spoke as she turned “Oh, Astra dear… we're not done by any means… But I'll be in touch with you again before long, I guess.” He smiled at her back and watched her leave, waiting for her to exit the doors before raising up his left hand again . He spoke seemingly to no one. “You wouldn't tell on me, would you? That would take all of the fun. I'm sure you'll be put back together in the end. I just don't know how. Yet.”

[Astra]

A hum came from Tret bracelet sending a chilling sensation up his arm, perhaps it was touched by the aether, or maybe it just the metal reacting to his skin?

[Tretesta]

The smile fades at the feeling ”…We have some talking to do as well….“
